  • I agree that their review filter is bullshit. I was writing a review of a very bad vet in my area and all of their reviews (except my new one) are gone, filtered away. I read the reviews. Several of them seem to be very valid. Even ones with which I disagree. But they're all filtered away. I assume that vet paid them off. My new vet on the other hand has a lot of very positive review that as far as I can tell are justified. But maybe he paid too. I don't know. I don't trust yelp anymore.

  • They filtered my reviews too. Same story! aloha-ca. com/ yelppetition if you want to sign our petition.

  • Yelpscam.com

  • The filter is a pain in the ass. Thankfully you can still actually see the reviews if you click "see filtered reviews" or something tho that effect

  • Put your shirt on, you mincing, irrelevant queen.

  • I agree with you completely. A business I gave a great review went behind the filter so when I went in to read mine, I found 10 other great reviews in the filter. Yet, only 1 review was allowed to show which was the only negative review. What's even more blatant is that the negative review never did business with the company. The reviewer complained that she submitted a question to the company via email and never got a response. Hello? she never called to verify if they received the email?

  • The Yelp review filter is horribly programmed.

  • yet the catch phrase is "Real People. Real Reviews"!!!!

  • You are Honest wise and Humble And your way of giving over the message Shows How Intelligent you are!

  • Your hair looks nice. It's good to see you : )

  • yelp review filter seems to just filter anything negative that people say about certain places...

  • @MrSpemat it is like Nazi Germany in a way...

  • Yeah, the yelp video tells you nothing about how the filter works. It just says, "We filter untrustworthy reviews," but they really don't explain how they decide which reviews should be taken down.

bad reviews are filtered, but then again, so are good ones. None of the reviews should be filtered unless it's spam. The mentioned that we humans filter all the time, so ... shouldn't we better at determining which reviews to compare than a robot?

  • Yelp sucks

  • If you pay Yelp....Yelp works for you. If you don't, then you have to deal with this "filter" bullshit. The video/filter explanation has a huge flaw. Because in essence, what Yelp is saying, is if you don't Yelp regularly (or pay them), then we don't care what you have to say, regardless if you honestly had a bad experience with a place of business

  • or a positive experience.

  • is that an enama bag in the background?

  • @villageeskimo lol yeah not a stuffed heart from valentines but an enema bag that is rectangular.

  • The Exact same thing happened to me and my business. They told me it was because of the people leaving reviews weren't avid yelp users. This is not the case since I have seen many reviews left from my customers that use yelp all the time and yet mine were the only ones that got removed. Sounds like a mafia move to me.......

  • I loved Yelp at first, but there Content Review Filter is bullshit, I hate to say it. And their Search function is not very accurate in the slightest. Their "rate by Highest Reviews" is not even close to being accurate. It sucks like a Hoover vacuum

  • Hey there, Thanks for posting this video! I have had such a issue with Yelp as well!

  • wear a shirt dude lol

  • More people need to know the truth because you're right, Yelp needs a competitor or else they'll take continue taking advantage of people. It happened to me as well. Fuck Yelp.

  • The "filter" is just a lame sauce way for Yelp to try to force people into paying money to use their service. I would think they could get a lot more creative though than a lame "filter" that isn't even legitimate. Why not offer some kind of discount or special featured review or something? But this? Yeah this sucks. It's not how you run a business.

  • actually Yelp filter is really good...

  • lastly, just spoke with Greg Weston who is the attorney in charge of one of the class action suits against Yelp who told me they are still in the early stages of the suit but will update me when they finally nail Yelp's ass to the wall. Let's keep our fingers crossed....

  • I was getting ready to blast this video if you were one of those goddamn Yelp ass licking "elites" that go around trying to bash people who criticize their beloved site. I was quite relieved to discover that you are another disgruntled small business owner like me who Yelp has tried to blackmail. I've got a great small business that has grown by word of mouth over the last 8 years and a client finally put me on Yelp and since then I've been harassed over and over by their sales team

  • @Zennofobic I've got 36 5 star reviews on Yahoo and 32 on Yelp... 26 now have been filtered out because I decline week after week to pay into their bullshit sales scam. The ONE NEGATIVE review I've ever gotten from a completely idiotic customer who had a personal gripe with me (as a business there's always one jerk who speaks unfairly) is of course still showing on my Yelp page and it's a 1 time poster - supposedly one of those reviews that SHOULD HAVE BEEN FILTERED OUT but of course it's not

  • When I started a business page all my students reviewed me.

I turned down Yelp's ad rep & my reviews disappeared.

I told Yelp I'm a small business owner with only have a 15 students. I need their reviews to count. Yelp explained my students need to be active yelpers for their reviews to reappear. My students all became active "yelpers" but the reviews never reappeared. Then Yelp said I shouldn't have told my students I have a yelp page "people need to find your business organically" ??

  • @AndreaMorrisFilms "organically" means you pay Yelp $300 a month and your business gets a little yellow highlight and then your students can comment all they want!

  • yes I agree this fillter is crap . if you do not advartise , they will call you like 2 times a month and real reviews are removed , and some bogus not real reviews most negative stay on

  • fuck yelp, that site should be closed down.

  • somehow they don't know that negative reviews are not all true... and their filltering system don't filter out negative reviews, only postive reviews.... yelp need to go...

  • Yelp then said that the filter is a Catch-22 and tries to justify why they take certain reviews down even if they're legitimate. Then they follow it by saying, once you gain trust from other Yelpers, your reviews "MIGHT" reappear. Bullshit...they're definitely taking money from businesses who are whining, pissing, and crying over bad reviews. "Real people. Real reviews." Fuck you Yelp, you're all pussies!

  • Yelp is shit! I honestly believe they accept bribes from certain businesses to filter out bad reviews. I reviewed a Ruby Tuesdays in Manassas, VA a while ago and had a horrible experience with this bitch bartender who royally sucks named Nikki (btw, she had more than 9 complaints against her and was never fired). I wrote a review saying she was rather cold and rude and the review was taken down.

  • goes back to Plato's "Who will watch the watchers"... This problem is not limited to yelp it's a problem that touches everything and has existed since the beginning of time...competition helps though.

  • YELP SUCKS BALLS. I USED TO WORK FOR THESE FAGGOTS. Don't use their site. Trust me, they are SHADY AS HELL. I know their business practices inside out.

    THEY ARE CROOKS!!!

  • @joshspiker They do indeed suck balls. They just offered to help my wife's business for $350 a month. Suck balls.

  • @Thanx1982

That's probably because there's not EDIT button on Youtube though there should be.

  • Yelp is not real, they are a real MAFIA

  • Yelp seems to be "crooked" like all large corporations. I had several great reviews filtered and removed for flimsy reasons.

  • Dear people of Yelp: Your "review filter" is an unfair load of BULLSHIT. Somebody is gonna come up with a BETTER REVIEW WEBSITE. Wait... You'll see!

PEOPLE, DO NOT YELP ANYMORE! FUCK YELP!

  • @JustWaIkAway Most Definitely!! You should come up with it!!

  • I had made an account on Yelp and put up 50 reviews of businesses in 5 different states including restaurants, casinos, movie theaters, mechanics, airports and liquor stores.

I'd say I had a pretty fair distribution of reviews in the 1 to 5 star range. Some of my reviews were longer than others but all of them were written by me. I started to notice that some of my reviews were being "filtered". Then I noticed that almost all of my reviews were being "filtered". Fuck Yelp, waste of time.

  • @redondodude58 Agreed, I wrote about 5 "legitimate" and in my opinion "helpful" reviews and i even included pictures, and they are ALL FILTERED. I wrote reviews out of my own time to share my own opinion, yet to see that there is a captcha involved in order to see them. I was starting to think my reviews were not good enough and now i realized it's all an effin scam. EFF YELP. my time was wasted.

  • LOL, they filtered out a review on a sandwich shop where they neglected handicapped person and the handicapped person almost fell down but since it did not happen to me, they filtered it out. Bull!

  • yelp's review filter = big bag O bullshit

  • Yelp filtered 75% of the 5-star reviews about Image Perfection, a small big-screen TV repair business in the SF Bay Area. As someone who helps the owner with the admin facets of the biz, I know the reviews were written by real customers - I spoke with them when they called about the problems their TV's were having. Yelp does an injustice to this and other small-business owners whose clientele have nothing but good things to say about them. It does a disservice to those who read its reviews too.

  • Yelps review filter is horrible for Business owners, and frankly a scam on Yelps part to try to lure people into PAYING for a service that should be free. Im a small legitimate, honest business owner, with customers that want to review my work. Three costumers have posted these reviews and ALL THREE have disappeared. So it looks like Ill take my reviews to another website that actually allows users to post legitimate REVIEWS -Isnt that a novel concept.

  • Agreed. Yelp is bullshit.

  • I agree with you that it's lame Yelp disabled comments on their video about filtering. I have 3 friends with small business who each had dozens of good reviews for their businesses removed from Yelp soon after they got a sales call from them and said no. Now please put on a shirt.

  • @CreamPants Yeah like CreamPants says, I agree with your video Adam (I'm assuming that's your name from your video tags) and I'd love to share this video, but it would be great if you put on a shirt...
