Just buy yourself some ceramic pads and do the job yourself. You'll save hundreds and you'll learn how to fix your own vehicle. To stop your new pads or shoes from squeaking, ask to have your rotors or drums turned. It's that simple....the metal surface is glazed and needs recut. I've found even brand new rotors and pads to squeak on ford taurus vehicles.
They need to do a story on transmission shops. those guys rip you off more then any other. I bet if you take a new transmission in to almost any shop they will say it's bad or it needs something.

I got my car back in one piece, my normal brake guy said back brakes had 20k to go and simply replaced the front pads just as I knew I (only) needed. STAY AWAY FROM THES
