Even if slavery had been abolished- european countries still maintained their Colonies, which supplied cheap resources- they then started a program of immigration reform so that foreigners can provide cheaper labour in europe and build their internal markets. If foreigners leave europe then production cost will rise, firms will go banckrupt.
Thirdly- Economics tells us that if europe/US loses it's ( large foreign population ) or internal market then it has two challenges that no powerful country wants- production cost and thus prices will rise, social programes will be cut or taxes increased even more.Or seach for international markets-but with high production cost firms won't be able to compete. Solution would be run small sustainable economies like finland/Sweden etc but would be more vulnerable to larger foreign military attacks.

Actually they lived by the plow, it was the Zulu and Matabele, Xhosa and Hlubi,Ngwane that lived by the sword.They butchered other Africans without mercy forcing other tribes off their land, just google (Mfecane). The whites didn't tend to settle in areas where there was any large "native" populations and for the most part they went about their lives farming and being productive.

-Secondly -Europe developed because of a then effective production scheme. Slavery-cheap labour which reduces cost of production, but increased production. Even if slavery had been abolished- european countries still maintained their Colonies, which supplied cheap resources- they then started a program of immigration reform so that foreigners can provide cheaper labour in europe and build their internal markets. If foreigners leave europe then production cost will rise, firms will go banckrupt.

Thirdly- Economics tells us that if europe/US loses it's ( large foreign population ) or internal market then it has two challenges that no powerful country wants- production cost and thus prices will rise, social programes will be cut or taxes increased even more.Or seach for international markets-but with high production cost firms won't be able to compete. Solution would be run small sustainable economies like finland/Sweden etc but would be more vulnerable to larger foreign military attacks.

Remember that development and economic development are different, So without immigrants yes Europe would be socially developed, ie better education, health care, housing etc. but their economies would be much smaller and sustainable economies...which i see as a good thing. However those economies won't be able to manage the cost of maintaining large armies and other large projects. which is no problem in itself- but then with Russia, China etc on the scene- doubt that will happen
