I hate Anne Boleyn for what she did to Catherine of Aragon, and for what she made Henry do to her...the queen was banished from the kingdom like a stray dog so she could go on with her political plan. She should have been inprisoned, only to suffer what the Queen had. Henry was a tirant and cruel maniac...hate them both!
She was executed at Tower Green, she was executed at 8 in the morning, clocks weren't invented until the 1600s, and she wasn't accussed of plotting to kill Henry. The charges were adultry, incest, and witchcraft.
@rebekah525 Hey there. Tower Green, as we know it now, wasn't actually the spot where Anne was executed. She was executed between the Houses of Ordinance and the White Tower, which is now the parade ground in front of the Waterloo barracks. Queen Victoria asked for the place of Anne's execution to be marked on a visit to the Tower during her reign, and the current site was mistakenly marked due to the lack of primary material they had in their possession of the real location.
@rebekah525 The time of Anne's execution depends on whch source you cite, however Henry actually gifted Anne a clock for her engagement, and although not commonplace, a fine example of Tudor timekeeping can be seen at Hampton Court at base court. Anne's death sentence was placed for 'imagining the kings death', not adultery or incest. Adultery in a Queen was not made punishable by death until Kathyrn Howard's reign/demise. No charges of Witchcraft were levied against Anne during her trial.
You know what i hate about all these medievil films, their wrong and the one thing that I will point out as a history major is that Europeans were filthy and in these films their always so clean lol LOL LOL lol these bastards thought that taking a bath would kill them and the phesants houses walls were made of ox shit, hay, and water oh i could go on and on I want even begin on how women didnt clean themselves when on there cycle
@khalidbinwa You know...I've often wondered how they could bear the stench of each other! You know it had to be bad since they didn't take baths very often and wore such hot clothing! I'm sure glad I didn't live back then! LOL
Yes, this is strange. Then again what do you expect when the Roman Cathilic church made Thomas More a saint. The same Thomas More who zealosy tortured people and racked them. He was no saint!
What are you talking about FOOL? Of course he did. Read the biographies of him and read all the contemporary reports of his Chancellorship. WAKE UP LITTLE FOOL!
I have tons of Tudor Books, in one of them it's very well explained that he never did harm. By the way, Richard Rich and Wriothesley racked Anne Askew themselves when they lost their patience with her. Askew was a strong woman, another victim of those times.
I too have seen a documentary on the Histoiry Channel that sais Sir Thomas did rack heretics - he beleived if they recanted he had saved their soul. But must admit YeOldeTune it came as a huge surprise to me too.
Well nether does English law, the only wives recognised by law are Queen Catherine of Aragon, Queen Jane Seymour, and Queen Catherine Parr. And the Roman Catholic Church recognises Queen Catherine of Aragon.
Henry recognized only Seymour and Parr. Actually everybody recognize the six women as Queens, we must give thanks that a great part of mankind left XVI century intolerance in the past.
i agree! i think that's one of the main reasons y people sympathize with anne no matter what she may have done or what murder plots she may have been involved in, they were all incredible women, no doubt about it! anne is def my favorite heroine, such strength, such bravery!!! =D
Poor Anne. What most people don't realise is that during Tudor executuions, the women we the bravest facing their horrid deaths. Anne here, the Countess of Salisbury, Queen Katerine Howard and Lady Jane Grey. They all showed bravery and defiance. These are true heroines. Henry VIII was a fat high-toned pip of a voice murderer. These women - may they rest in peace x

More never tortured people or racked them. That's a nonsense.

I remember the late Waylon Jennings who once said about Hollywood. "Hollywood wouldn't know the truth if they stood in a fresh pile of it."
