  • Avyeled: He used a microwave.

  • so a double stop is when you play any two notes from a scale or a chord together?

  • how did you make that telecaster sound so warm?

  • uvl@ablund.dk

Telecastermonster is my youtube name :-)

    best regards from denmark.

  • is there an artist that makes this kind of music? i want a cd!

  • @JH0217 from what i know, the C major scale is the same as the A minor scale but different roots. it depends on the progression to whether u insert the major or minor scale. technically in this case, playing the A minor scale over the C major root sounds happier and more fitting. i might be wrong tho...

  • @naowx09 they are relative major and minor, all major scales have a relative minor on the 6th scale degree.

  • im really not sure how to learn stuff like this ie how a A minor works over a C majour without going into too much theory. Think i will probably have to.

  • Use the Schwartz!

  • i wish i could play like that

  • Nice playing and i like you attitude..

That tele - yellow. What is the colour fender call it.

    I want it!

  • Thanks for these videos, you uploaded here. It helped me a lot. You´re really good teacher. Your video lessons are good motivation to get better. Go on !

  • i just want to understand how you do that lick thing at 2:59/8:47 its awesome!

  • Hi Marty...just confirm..its the same progression then the inro of "Brown Eyed Girl" (Van Morison" ?

  • @pnigos just about yeah.. it's a fun technique to play around with

  • correct me if im wrong, but the part over the G7 is an A dorian sound? right? it was mentioned in the vid, just wanted to make sure.

  • ehi dude... i've used your suggestions...

  • The guitar is out of tune, and he is gay.

  • @Hallpers Yep figured as much cause your ignorance came through in flying colors!

  • How do you "loop" the background chords?

  • @xr1800yam with a pedal

  • another killa lesson marty. as always i might add.

  • You are a cool player, that sounds relaxing and awesome.

  • why are fenders so god dam expensive

  • Pls make just one video of you jamming for 3 mins. You are so freaking good :).And great lesson of course ;D

  • Hey Marty,

I got in on your 17 DVD course a few weeks back and am loving it.

I've owned a guitar for over 30 years and never really learned to "play" it.

Thanks to you I'm finally starting to "get it".

    Good stuff!!!

  • I just noticed this! Marty looks a lot like Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse!!!

  • Quick question, Im currently using like 10 gage strings on an epiphone LP. and i've played guitars with lower gage strings and i like it a lot better. Is it okay to go down a gage in s trings? And what do most people use?

  • @blownspeakersss

Yeah, same here. I think 9's are most common but don't quote me on that one haha.

  • @Seaannn1 ahhh yeah, most of the guitars in shops (here in England anyway) always have 9 gauge strings on them. I'm not keen on strings that brittle personally, i like nice thick 11s because of their great feel and sound better in tune... pahaha, wooow, what an essay i wrote...

  • @garystabler

Haha, yeah thought so. I think I'm using 10's right now, they're not too bad lol.

  • HAAHAAHAA C Major C happy princesses and flowers ! xD

  • that guitars a squire am i right? i have the same guitar only its blue thumbs up if blues your fav color!

  • @Jarrodpotter23 It's not a Squire.. It's a Fender US Telecaster. Squire is just a cheap version of it.

  • Dude u should post videos more than 10 mins long....plzzz.cover full songs...We need your tutorials...

  • Thanks you for lesson, very good played! =)

  • every time i watch Marty im reminded how badly i need a loop pedal

  • Sweet stuff. Sounds like John Mayer-ish when you switched to the C major progression. Seems like the audio and video are a little out of sinc, but still a great lesson.

  • Bob and Marty without Bob?

  • @guitarjamzdotcom are you using Boss RC-20XL Loop Station?

  • great lesson, great guitar...

  • I'm definitely seein the Bob Ryan influence, awesome bebop and major/minor licks in G7 section. Great vid Mart!

  • Hey I like the lessons, but I kinda wanna hear you just play a long solo. Maybe you can just make a video of you playing? I think that would be cool.

  • It may seem that Marty moved the camera closer to the guitar but in fact he shrunk the whole room

  • i saw marty in a commercial today.

  • MArty - Land of Am, C, and G7??

  • So I was wondering: what's the relationship between the G7 chord and these double stop played notes from the A natural minor scale? Is there an easy way to remember it? Well after a quick research I answered my own question. G Mixolydian and A natural minor are the same exact notes, just a different emphasis from the A to the G. Just thinking out loud here in case anybody else was wondering the same thing I was.....

  • @bondmaster420 Yup .. I looked it up too. Sometimes music theory just pisses me off. ;-)

  • @bondmaster420 they all come from the key of Cmajor. the chords of C major are: C

Dmin Emin F G7 Amin etc.

so this concept can be used with anyone of these chords as the tonal center or "home base" ???? y'all dig????

  • i just love how you play .... i forgot about the lesson

  • That was totally cool Marty. That's HOURS of tinkering around right there.

    .

    Cheers

  • Marty you're an amazing guitarist and teacher. thank you for taking the time to do these videos they help tremendously. but i am tend to stick to blues licks that get repetitive in the "ultimate E run". Can you do a video on extensions or scales, modes that sound good in the key of E. I'm not very technical as you may tell

  • I love marty schwartz! :)

  • marty just wondering who taught you how to play guitar, and how long have you been playing for?

  • i have that guitar :D

  • great lesson! really helps me better understand some licks n continuing them!

  • Really useful lesson, thanks alot Marty!

  • I love the progression at 4:12! I hope you teach more 'major' things. Real sweat!

  • @misterfuchie Just a word of advice. Dont compare yourself to others when learning. Everyone learns at different speeds. If you are consistent with proper practice, than you will improve. Teaching yourself is one of the hardest ways to learn. Watching someone else that is more advanced than you, and being able to sit and jam with that person will improve your playing. Also, download some backing tracks and play them over and over, and play around in the same scale as the backing track.

  • what make is that gutar? also how long u bin playing for coz iv been playing for about a yer and im no where neer that good

  • What kind of guitar is that?

  • Thick cheese...

  • wow...was drifting away listening to that cmajor-thing......

    great !

  • Wicked riff at 3:38.

I'd like to know more about loopers too, as leeallicat asked.

  • Awesome lesson! Your students are incredibly fortunate to have such a great teacher who can simplfy any lesson, how I wish I could spend some time just picking your brain. But still your online lessons are incredibly helpful, Thanks Again!!!

  • 0:22 - pure CHEEESE! :P

  • Marty you have a Blues Soul!!! Respect!

  • Hey Marty

What looper would you advise buying???

  • Hey Marty!

Does it matter what pick you use when you play guitar?

    Thanks!

  • @guitcrzy yes it does... i was at a guitar lesson, and my instructor ordered a lot of weird picks... camel bone, turtle shell, plastic (of course), and buffalo horn. the camel bone seemed to phase in and out... it was pretty cool.

  • thx Marty.

  • 15 :dd voter

  • cool tnx:d

  • Gotta love His beard :D tumb UP is you like his beard

  • aww man, i hate being one of the first to see it, with the quality. Just kidding marty, I love when i am online with guitar in hand, and then i see Marty JUST put a video up. Perfect man, thats just awesome timing. hahaha. Rawque on!

  • What happened to the video and audio-quality, Marty? :(

Strings on your guitar is all mushy, and sound quality is lower than usual.

    Still a nice lesson though!

  • @SantaTheHo youtube is still preparing the video quality. it will be better in a couple of minutes ;)

  • @steve63457

    Awesome! Thanks!

  • @SantaTheHo

    Video was still processing.

  • @SantaTheHo gotta give it some time bro

  • @SantaTheHo The quality should be as usual by now, since it takes some time for YouTube to process the video.

  • enhancing my guitar brain, one lesson at a time. thanks again!

  • dig the telecaster
