My Grandma worked for Sears for many years and she always got my Bro and I some cool presents, like toys, bikes and clothes. In 1974, in 8th grade, she gave us a floor model 8-track stereo. Someone left a store demo of SF Sorrow inside the deck. At first, all of our friends thought it was weird and stupid. In time, it became a crowd favorite. Our friends often requested it and we smoked out and listened to it many times. I never met anyone else who had that album, which made it even cooler.
Attention any J.Crew models that are presently taking a few guitar lessons & plan on filling Wembley stadium -don't rip off this band's style or riffs and pass them off as your own.
Whats more i heard Oasis crediting it and explaining how they really liked the riff off this album, perhaps opening it up for a whole new audience which is surely no bad thing.
Just found out about the Samedi relation with this song. What do ya know...always thought the Baron was the person who introduces Sorrow to dereliction, but as an older wild fiend, certainly not as a voodoo character. Anyways, Baron remains my fave song from a fave album!!
It's great to hear this after what is for me 40 years. I liked it then and now I know why. Thanks Taxman. I think it's 15 years ahead of its time...well, far ahead anyway
I'm a big fan of music from my father's generation, I think the majority of the best music (and films) is from that period of the 60s and 70s. But this song reeeeeaaaalllly irritates me!
The main vocal on this sounds just like Norman Smith ..the producer of the album...he had a few hits in the UK in the 70s under the name Hurricane Smith...could be totally wrong...any more Knowledgable fokls out there?
Oh, and Baron Saturday doesn't sound like I am the Walrus at all! As far as the riff is concered, Oasis aren't the only ones that borrowed it. Check out Queen's Tenement Funster. And to be brief: Bag it Up is probably the best cut off the mesmerizing Dig Out Your Soul. A rip off it is not.
Hey, I taped this song off WDET 101.9 (Detroit's premier college station at Wayne State University) they used to play a LOT of Pretty Thing tunes---never would have heard of them otherwise---I've heard WAY better tunes from the psychedelic era, but this has such a memorable groove that kicks ass, I gotta give it mad props regardless. That means I like it!
Vitanium, "Bag It Up" takes the main riff from this song obviously. That, and the fact that everyone knows (and Noel even admits!) his never-ending "ripping" from his idols, the basis for "Bag It Up" was formed.

Noel admits that this song directly influenced at least one song, it's obviously Bag It Up. Though the riff is the only thing they have in common.

Oasis totally ripped this off, with their new song "Bag It Up" off Dig Out Your Soul.

You're so stupid. All bands riff off each other. That's how styles evolved. Is Bag it Up exactly like this song? I think not. Think a bit buddy.

Baron Saturday (aka Baron Samedi) is a Voodoo Entity, that steals peoples souls. A sort of Voodoo representation of the Grim Reaper.
