Love the pics of the ejector plate muscle shown in its telescoping stages very nice.I allways wondered how they make those hydrolic cyclinders to work like they do.The old EZPak from the 1960s had that type way back then too.Excelent as allways the video...paul
Good slideshow on this humble workhorse. More similarities than differences with the USA version, but you have some larger bodies down there; max size here was 25 cubic yards as far as I know. Bigger than that had to be a Mark V, F5000 or PTC. I also believe the hydro-lock gate is exclusive to the Australian 4000.
Some of those packer and sweep blades...and even hoppers do resemble the old Mark V. Wasn't there also a Mark IV???? I admit I don't know the Heil equipment line. They weren't used alot here in Canada.
Mark IV , Formula 4000 and PT1000 are the same packer design. Mark V is a different animal, but indeed the sweep panel ribs on all Heil products had a similar appearance during the 1970's
Largest here's 28m probably equal to about 36-40yd... just an estimate! When you talk about the MkV do you refer to the HEIL RL series? What's F5000 and PTC? Also got the Shurlocks on the American vehicles... some don't - most do!
Sorrry for the slow reply...The USA Mk V is no longer sold her, but was the same as the UK Jack Allen/Heil Big Bite. It was replaced in the USA by the Formula 5000 (F5000), which used to be the Gar Wood 900 and is also the same as the Euro FAUN Powerpress. The Power Trak Commercial (PTC) is a recent entry in the USA and is basically a slide-sweep 2R style packer.
Now for the coup-de-gras, a variant that preceded the USA PTC circa 1999-2000 was also called Big Bite, but has nothing to do with the UK Big Bite, which, is in actuality a Mark V. There are more branches in this tree, but this covers the basic geneology... :-)

Abbreviations! PTC looks like a twin with the 2R - tailgate especially! Thanx for that info!
