  • Lame. No political point other than the Republican Party spend THEIR OWN FUNDS on transportation. Not tax dollars. Their not forcing anyone to vote for them.... so any Ron Paul "supporters"; what does this have to do with anything?

  • Although the video was nice, I Don't quite understand the point you were making in regards to there being alot of buses. I am sure their were alot of cars as well.

  • Oh my...

  • No doubt ol Mitts got money te burn....

I also am a LDS individual. Mitt however would never get my vote. My vote is not for sale.

Mitt is hangin with the Gadiantons so he is not to be trusted, period.

Ron Paul is the individual person who has the moral integrity and honor that comprise a righteous leader.

We really need a righteous leader about now, no more secret combinations in government of the people. Stop tyranny VOTE RON PAUL!

  • it is so cool that buses were made.

  • This is absolutely preposterous. It really is true one can buy votes, or even worse, haul an army of people to vote for oneself. This is open immorality in my book. Cheating without being labeled a cheater is no less of a sin.

  • write a snail mail to the editor of your local newspaper supporting Ron Paul - they may publish it.

  • Everyone! Make sure your regestration is Republican (only if temporary)by the time of the republican primarys, so we can get Ron in office!

  • It's a sad day when Americans can be bought and a man like Ron Paul that is actually for the people is censored by the media. Sad indeed. Keep fighting Ron Paul your supporters love you and don't need to be bought.

  • I am an active mormon of 37 years and I would NEVER vote for Romney. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. The New World Order has handpicked him along with the other choices they we are "allowed" to choose from. The only candidate that isn't a ringer for the NWO is Ron Paul. The only reason Ron Paul is in the race is because of the internet. The NWO didn't count on the internet. They have the media locked down for propaganda but the internet got away from them.

  • "buses buses buses" i've never heard a person with a bigger obsession over "buses".

  • Thats Global Warming for ya! woot!

  • Although we don't drink we don't have a right to prevent others from drinking and watching what they choose to watch on TV.

  • I am absolutely amazed how Romney was a supporter of Gay Rights, Abortions and other things that the Mormon Church does not condone. So my question is, why hasnt he been excommunicated? And, for the record, Mr. Marriott of Marriott International Hotels, a devout Mormon, allows porn and alchohol in his hotels? Why hasnt he been excommunicated?

  • Mormons believe in Free-Agency,(free-will).We can't force our beliefs on others.Romney has always been pro-life but didn't want to step in and change things in Mass. because of HIS beliefs. He hasn't encouraged anyone to have an abortion therefore he wouldn't be excommunicated. The church believes that abortion is acceptable under rape and incest. Mormons believe that ALL people have rights and should be treated respectfully. But,we don't support gay marriage.

  • FairTax organization responds to allegations that it boosted Mike Huckabee: "We invited one and all to come to Ames on our 10 buses and have little doubt that supporters of each candidate--and undecided's--came to Ames with us. This is a grassroots campaign to advance an issue important to the nation and every taxpayer"

  • daaaaaamnnnnn...that's pretty pathetic!!

  • He not only brought in all those buses, he also had a giant stage, BBQ, slides, and rock climbing. He spent 2,200 per vote. Thats 10 mil.

  • My jaw dropped when I saw all those buses. It is unfortunate that they had to resort to that.

  • I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I taped this (on my return walk through the lot) to show my family back home... but the sheer amount was too much not to share. The straw poll is nothing but a GOP fundraiser IMHO. Attending was a real eye opener.

  • Every Mormon in the tri-state is gathering there. That is his support base

  • Romney not only paid for the bus ride, he paid for the straw poll tickets and fed them as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if Romney's people were slipping cash to their "supporters", as well...

  • Romney has no one here who will work for him without pay, and some of those people are not even voting for him.

  • exactly ron paul only spent a small chunk a change and spent only a few weeks in iowa. Mitt spent millions and months. And guess what ron still got over 1,000 votes mitt only 4,000

  • Converted Independent ..now Rep. !!VOTE!! iowagop(dot)net amestrib(dot)com abcnews.go(dot)com/Politics/Decision2008/popup?id=3436820 uspolitics.about(dot)com/b/a/207985.htm nrsc(dot)org/survey/ gopstrawpolls(dot)com 1ginormousmouth(dot)com tshirtpoll(dot)com ...and get a sign in your yard. Ron Paul!
  • a lotta buses....RP for PRES

  • great video rebel !!!! i see the view count is at 2,211... i dont know why this video hasnt moved to the "most viewed" section. i hope youtube isnt censoring it.

  • Are Iowa Republican Voters a bunch of political welfare queens or just political sluts? It seems they all wanted a free ride and a free lunch people with integrity need not apply. Sadly I suspect people will give people free rides and meals on the day of actual elections. People will sell away their freedom for such a cheap price.

  • LAME.

And Romney could only manage to pull off 4 times more than Ron Paul.

  • honkywill-great comment, this video really tells the true story. Were is the "media"?

I apologize to you ronpaulrebel, YOU are the new media. Congrats.

  • There you have it. The other guys need buses to persuade others to get off their asses and vote for them.

  • I would say this is a victory for us too. I mean, think of how much time and money Romney, Brownback & Trancredo spent in Iowa for this straw poll. Ron Paul spent 1 week there, had a couple of ads and bought a total of 800 tickets. Now, talk about motivation and efficiency on the part of Ron Paul's supporters. If Brownback & Trancredo hadn't bussed people in, we all know who'd be in third place.

  • Ron Paul was the clear winner if Romney and the others didn't bus in those folks Ron Paul would of been the clear winner. I bet Romney was approaching churhes like Bush did LOLOL. Ron Paul was the clear winner to me for many reasons.

  • Would have, not would of.

He wouldn't have been the clear winner, because he still came in fifth. He would however have had a better showing.

  • Check out my video if you want to see mitt romney tatics to win a silly poll he spent 2 million on this poll. I hope normal men with out huge wallets can still be pres if not we are no longer the land of the free.

  • Bus votes won't be as powerful in the REAL election!

    Ron Paul 2008!

  • Bus votes won't be as powerful in the REAL election!

    Ron Paul 2008!

  • good grief that's a lot of buses.

  • Ok, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that those were Huckabee buses. But that was probably THE ONLY Huckabee bus. The man ran on a shoe-string budget. He could barely afford to bus people to the event.

  • Huckabee did have buses. Watch the video at 1:15 -- when I saw a line of his buses. Each bus had sign for their campaign.... and he had several.

  • I didn't see a Huckabee bus at 1:15. The Huckabee campaign and all the news outlets say that he had 0 buses. His supporters traveled on Mitt Romney buses and car pooled.

  • Sorry, my comment wasn't clear. They were little signs in the driver's window, you can't make them out on the video... but I saw some -- that's why I commented on it as I walked.

Huckabee did do well though. There were more Romney and Tancredo buses though for sure.

  • SHEEP-ONLY Buses!!! "Become sheep, and you will get slaughtered by Wolves!" So many IGNORANT PEOPLE!!!

  • What's great is that all the Iowans that the other candidates paid to bus in got an opportunity to witness the enthusiasm and organization of the Ron Paul campaign. Ron Paul spent his money wisely.

  • "We had people who just came out here on their own. We didn't bus them in. We didn't buy all their tickets," Mr. Huckabee said after the results were announced. "They came because they believed in this message. They wanted us to win."

    thecaucus(dot)blogs(dot)nytimes(dot)com/2007/08/11/romney-is-pleased-as-punch/

  • There aren't any Ron Paul busses because they rode on Romney's busses.

  • Isn't that Ron Paul's problem for not bussing? I guess he can't complain if he had the option and didn't do it.

  • We loose we loose with a fight. Then let them have there country. It will be one big soup kitchen anyways.

  • keep up the fight ron paul had 10% of the vote.we have made a big impact.

  • Truly is sickening... if Ron Paul spent 10 million like Romney.. and Free busses, free BBQ, FREE DRINKS, and some free hotels.... lol he would have gotten 15k-20k votes.

  • There was a problem with the voting machine, took an hour to have the final count. UNFAIR!

    Vote Ron Paul!

  • Holy cow. That's what we're up against? Well I feel even better about the results now.

  • Amazing.

The $/vote ratio for Romney is high; for Paul, low. This is good. :-)

  • He could only get 4,000 with that fleet? What a joke.

  • HA! Romney's "scaling back in Iowa" line was such a lie. He needed damage control.

  • Actually, it turns out that Mike Huckabee DID NOT rent any buses. If you look at EmergencyCheese's videos, there's a guy in Iowa who said that Huckabe didn't rent buses. This was a slam dunk for his campaign. Congrats to Huckabee for kicking ass on a shoestring budget.

  • Huckabee DID bus people with the aid of the Fairtax group

FairTax, bused about 500 voting Iowans and 1,000 other supporters to the Straw Poll today, according to FairTax national director of grassroots Mike Rose. The group sponsored a ferris wheel -- the "Fairest Wheel," they called it -- at the Straw Poll, as well as a fan-cooled tent serving barbeque and dessert to supporters.

All told the group spend $150,000 on the Straw Poll, according to national spokesman Ken Hoagland

  • Please. The Fairtax group is not officially part of his campaign. If they preferred Huckabee over Ron Paul (who is also for Fairtax, if I'm not mistaken) all the better for Huckabee in convincing them to support him without spending a dime of his own.

  • You are mistaken - Ron Paul is against the FairTax act.

Iowa is one of Ron Paul's weakest states for support - he only received ~7000$ in donations from the state and only had 8 staffers. Yet, with the help of the strongest grassroots any campaign has seen(thousands of unpaid volunteers), he manages to get 9 to 10% of the votes.

  • Well, that's news to them. Because on their scorecard, they've got Ron Paul listed as a "Yes."

    fairtax(dot)org/site/PageServer?pagename=news_presScorecard

  • If *I'm* not mistaken, Ron Paul has said that the FairTax is a step in a right direction (as opposed to the income tax), but he doesn't necessarily support it.

    Look here :/watch?v=qI5lC4Z_T80

  • Holly Crap, Politics it totally about who does what for whom... Scarry .. with each bus holding 60 passangers and none being for Ron Paul, the 9.1% for him is HUGE..

How many of these people would not have come if they didn't get a free ride and probably admission paid..

  • I agree that Romney had an unfair advantage. But Huckabee barely spent any money in Iowa and probably had less organization that Ron Paul. Huckabee will gain the most out of this, I predict.

  • Huckabee+Fairtax group had more money than Ron Paul.

Ron Paul spent one week in Iowa and the grassroots organized in just 3 weeks.

  • That's not exactly true...we spent a good six weeks organizing. Right after the June 30th rally in Des Moines, we began focusing on the straw poll. The part about Dr. Paul being in Iowa for a week before the straw poll is correct.

  • Holy crap.

  • HaHa...

    That was crazy!

  • I think the buses must have voted for Romney! :/ I feel pretty good about 5th place for Paul, considering he didn't try to "buy" votes, err rent buses, and was only there 5 days.

  • INCREDIBLE... all those buses to get people there to vote and Romney could only get 4,500 people??? Huckabee 1800 and Ron Paul did *NO* BUSES and got 1300 to vote for him... amazing, disgusting, unreal..... pay per vote...

  • Huckabee HAD buses, they were paid for by the FairTax group

  • No kidding. With the low-res you can't see how far back they all go. Trust me, there's even more than you can tell from this video.

  • That is a crazy amount of buses. It definitely affected the outcome.
