The "Orthodox" fudge their birthrate numbers. Many of the younger generation leave and others never got unmarried and are not included in the statistics. In the US the Orthodox do not release their numbers to the almanac. In some families one gets married with 7 kids (the youngest male in the family) while two older siblings are unmarried and have a birth rate of zero. The overall rate is only 2.3 but if you exclude the two unmarried it is seven.

The "Orthodox" fudge their birthrate numbers. Many of the younger generation leave and others never got unmarried and are not included in the statistics. In the US the Orthodox do not release their numbers to the almanac. In some families one gets married with 7 kids (the youngest male in the family) while two older siblings are unmarried and have a birth rate of zero. The overall rate is only 2.3 but if you exclude the two unmarried it is seven.

I was on a transatlantic flight and these orthodox men got up in the middle for prayers despite being told to sit down many times due to turbulence. I don't believe they have the birth rates they claim. An example of this I can mention is the children of sound of music. Their 10 children had 27 Grandchildren a rate of 2.7. But 25 of them came from only 4 children who had either 6 or 7 children. One had two children and the other 5 had 0 children. If you just include the 4 or even the 5 that had children you would get a distorted much higher rate by excluding those who have zero children.

Furthermore, their birth rates depend on government subsidies and women liking men who don't really work for a living and both those factors if they change would end up having bad consequences for them. One of the biggest problems with extremist religions is inbreeding and the damage it does to thousands of children...in all religions..in the UK extremist muslim families are giving birth to multiple children with severe mental and physical disabilities regardless of screening available..costing millions in Health Service costs....totally irresponsible and horrendous for the children......

I never liked using the terms "Orthodox" and "Reform". Those terms didn't exhist until the late 1800's. Especially in the USA, most of the terms used to describe our people have nothing whatsoever to do with Judaism.

I know of plenty of orthodox jews who serve in the Isreali army.While as an orthodox jew myself, I do not agree with how they live their lives in some cases .The truth is, if it wasn't for them and the many Israeli children they produce, Israel's population would be taken over by Palestinians in the near future.

When they say "They're not into technology", makes them sound like they're amish or something. Orthodox jews have cellphones and cars, and sometimes computers and radios. It depends on how you use those things, though - that's the difference.
