  • Heartfelt, heart pulling, heartbreaking. I was 18 and in love, not sure of where I was going and what I wanted to do or be with. Life is one big circle. Thanks for the memories Jim.

  • The 16 people who dis like this,,,have crap for brains

  • @archerace7 CRAP is WAAAAAY too complimentary!!!

  • Such a loss , speechless !

  • Love jim wish he was here, I miss those days.

  • One of the most moving television experiences I have had to date was Wolfman Jack's tribute edition to Jim Croce on *The Midnight Special*. I would dearly love to have a copy of that.

  • I was in grade 11 when I first heard this tune and it completely summed up the relationship I was just leaving. It was incredible to hear someone so clearly delineate what I was struggling to come to terms with on my own.

  • he is one of a kind

  • Beauty in all aspects of music.

  • This guy died way too young! I was only four years old when he died.

Great music he gave us in such a short time. Too bad I don't really hear him on the radio anymore. It's OK, I have him on my ipod and Pandora.com. I watched

Behind the Music on VH1 about him. It was sad, his wife looked like she was going to cry when reliving what happened. The way she explained it, she had a feeling about the phone call she got that night. Glad to see his son is carrying the torch.

  • He got a name :)

    Greetings dear Jim

  • Jim was so cool. Just to hear him tell the story behind a song was a treat.

  • One of the best guitarist ever walked on this planet.

  • Only the good die young! It was certainly true here.

  • L O V E this man. Went away way too soon. Miss you Jim.

  • jim, if your up there listening to all of your fans ...we miss you and your music will always be in my heart

  • I'm eighteen years old and have been listening to Jim since I was old enough to hear. Dad loves him and so do I. It's obvious that his brilliant music transcends generations. It doesn't matter what age you are, you can also appreciate beautiful music...that's what this is.

  • I love this song. Even A.J. Croce did a fantastic job covering his father's song. Truly a classic.

  • so this is the song Manny Pacquiao is playing..

  • Now this is talent. He performs live just as great as recorded.

  • what year was this filmed?

  • @roaringwaterbay in 1973, September

  • damn, have heard it a million times or did I? "..when the people and memories, join at the seams..." great, great line. Sang along a million times, and tonight, it stands out.

  • Such a beautiful song!!!!!!!!!!

  • When I hear this music, I know it sounds 'cliche' ,but it's hard to believe that Jim is not with us in 'body...but definitely in soul...xoxox

  • Where I can buy it?

  • simple and touching---after dozens of years have passed

  • This song...

tears you apart ánd makes you love, lets you down ánd gives you hights, lets you cry ánd reaches your deepest feelings, is sad ánd it is happiness... it's simply wonderful!

I grew up with the music of Jim Croce, and in all those years I refound, and refound, and refound him! GREAT MUSIC!

  • Jim was music is and always reflect how I think, but on the down side, it can put me into a funk in the twilight of my years.

  • One of his best. Jim always got right to the Heart....

  • One of the best, Never forget.

  • great song

  • Damn it , I should never listen to your music even though I like it, but it refects my life way way to much, I am sure there are lot other people out there that feels the same as I do.

  • just listen to the lyrics!!!

  • What an incredible troubabdour and wordsmith this guy was!

Everything he touched is simply timeless. The synergy and chemistry between him and Maury was magical.

  • This is my favorite song, so sad that he is not with us anymore.MAY YOU REST IN PEACE JIM. WE LOVE YOU

  • One of the most beautiful songs EVER recorded! I may not be old enough to be from his era (32) But I will ALWAYS remember growing up turning the pages in my dad's Jim Croce music books, while he played the guitar and sang for me and our family. Memories I will always cherish. Thank You Pops for being the kind of father that knew how important it is to pass along the great artists for the following generations to enjoy! And Thank You so much Jim for the years of music! R.I.P. Jim..........

  • If I see an advert ever again before something like this I will not be pleased

  • Thought I knew Jim Croce's songs... but just discovered this beautiful song. Thank u JC...GBU

  • Growing up in PI, this man thought me how to appreciate music. One day i was walking in downtown San Diego with my wife and we went to a restaurant (croces) that didnt know it was own by his wife or family i was just so happy that they are playing his album and didnt realized until i was reading the menu and it was one the happiest day of my life.

  • Who is his back-up guitarist, and is he still around ?

  • @sfwaller

I can't think of his name at the moment, but no, he perished in the plane crash with Jim

  • @phredsmom and @sfwaller his name was Maury Muehleisen. He's got his own tribute website, his name with a .com after it.

  • @sfwaller His name is Maury Muehleisen and sadly he was killed in the plane crash with Jim.

  • this song is awsome

  • Love him and his songs (and Martie too, of course!)

  • why is it always a plane crash?

  • One of my favorites from Jim, what a gifted man we lost!

  • This my favourite song, by Jim. . . .he sums up beautifully, the end of my marriage.

  • @MrBeatlefan57 I agree..he might even be the greatest.

  • Just something undefinable about him............He was the perfect singer. He could take a song and just make it absolutely perfect.

His music is as current and relevant as ever.......just simple songs about life, love and pain. I hope somewhere there is a special place souls like his go.

Jim, You are gone, but never forgotten.

  • Jim was a master at the difficult art of writing memorable melody lines.. a distinctive voice and a knack for lyrics made him a triple threat and a shoo-in for fame.

His death was a big loss for lovers of the well written ballad.

  • Beauty. What a team.... Maurie's guitar work and Jim's QUICKLY advancing song-writing were unlimited. I think after Jim's work with Maurie the bar was raised for everyone... at least for a while.

  • I certainly do miss my all-time favorite, Jim Croce...he will always be "The Man."

  • @boopboy1 hey man I know what u mean... I was not born when he died but music is everything to me n this guy is one of my all time favs.... This world world b much better he were still here

  • Omg.. Thank u for posting this

  • When I look at Jim and Maurie playing this beautiful music, I get this empty feeling thinking about how they're not with us anymore..What would they have spoiled us with had they lived.

I was only 7 years old when they died, and I remember my 16 year old brother crying...I'll never forget that.

  • i would like to compose like this man, it feels like a story of a book is being told

  • Such a gift we were given, it hasn't happened since, maybe never again.

  • how the hell were you listening to the greatest hits album i n 1973? i call bullshit.

  • Not going to start with the "X people Y" bullcrap, but seriously, HOW CAN YOU DISLIKE THIS???

  • It's kind of creepy how closely this mirrors my last relationship...

  • classic... i so love jim croce's songs..

  • I love Jim Croce :)

  • A good man and a great musician who was just starting to truly make his mark when he was taken from us. RIP Jim.

  • **sigh**

God do I miss this guy.

  • There is a warmth and directness with Jim Croce that literally transcends time and space. His phrasing and tone was one of a kind. It's hard to listen to he and Maury without wondering what if....

  • I still know every damned word to so many of his amazing songs . . . truly one of the greatest song writers and singers to have ever lived

  • True Troubadours.

  • jim was in a class of his own

  • Who doesn't own a Jim Croce album, tape, or CD? His work is eternal; it will prove to be as timeless as works produced by Beethoven, Mozart, or Bach. An ordinary man singing to ordinary people about extraordinary circumstances. Striking a balance between the dreams in people's lives and the very backdrop of reality they must face in everyday situations.

  • FAVORITE ARTIST OF ALL TIME .. RIP JIM YOU LIVE IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER MORE. NO MATTER THE AGE YOU HAVE TAKEN MANY GENERATIONS AND TURNED THEM INTO LIFELONG FANS <3 WE LOVE YOU!

  • @julietpauletteh I agree. I was a Jim Croce fan when I was a teenager and still am to this day. His lyrics were powerful and everyone can relate in one way or another.

  • Heard a friend uncle singing this song on 2003. Loved Jim's music ever since. This is pure music.

  • fills ma soul

  • this dude reinvented love music

  • He died on my 14th birthday. He was my favorite then and still is now. I have his greatest hits CD and whenever things get bad I sit and listen to it over and over. My favorite musician ever!!!

  • i was raised on music like jim's. there has never been a more meaningful decade in music than the than the stuff generated between 1965 and 1975. from olivia and elton to croce and denver..... these are songs that resonate through the years like no others can. thanks for the memories jim, and all your contemporaries too.

  • Awesome. Miss Jim. His music was alaways there for me. Still comforts me. Thanks for the memories. RIP

  • One of the best songwriters ever. A pure genius who made music we will carry with us the rest of our lives.

  • I hope he's playing in Heaven!!! What an addition he would be!!!

  • @troopcom can you imagine the band in heaven?

  • @hotmn4u yes i can! and Jim would be writing a lot of material!!!

  • i was not even born when he died its sad to think of all the songs we all wont get to hear why is it all ways the ones that touch your soul that die young

  • Great all-round man and musician it seems from reports on him. Impact of life 10 out of 10 in such a short time. He has mystical voice

  • Lover's Cross is one of Jim Croce's best. Thank for posting!

    RIP Jim!

  • The world lost a great one when Jim Croce died. Jim & Maury, you both will never be forgotten. The music lives on. Peace.....

  • its one of a painful kind what happen to music no one says what they feel i love this song

  • Love.

  • Lovely,

  • Was 11 when Croce died. I had always loved his music and always will. This song holds such special meaning for me...sadly.

  • @GeorgiePPuddinPie I was 17 and what a tragic loss

  • Comment removed

  • beutiful! i don't usually listen to folk music, but this is well done! Jim Croce a real talent..and like all talents passed too early

  • Another awesome song by JC!

  • Jim was not about to quit music after the fall of 1973...he was going to take a break after 3 straight years of making albums and touring. His final concert in Natchitoches, LA was a make up concert because he was ill the year before. Even though he was a big star by this time he kept his commitment and performed for $750.00. Right after that show, sadly he was killed in the plane crash. Jim was one of the most talented singer/songwriters that ever lived, I believe.

  • @MrBeatlefan57 Nicely captured,I identify with it the same but here in Oz ;)

  • @MrBeatlefan57 also a side note about the night he died : he had originally planned to leave the following day but at the last minute decided to fly out that night in time to catch a late set by his friend the late steve goodman in austin texas ...true story.

  • @MrBeatlefan57 I must agree. His music had a profound impact on my playing. I've tried to do him justice with my covers on here, but it's a high bar to reach for.

  • @MrBeatlefan57 Agreed...a great! I remember the day he died...I was playing his Greatest Hits album when I heard on the news. A sad day for sure.

  • @MrBeatlefan57 gotta agree with this .i can,t even imagine the what we have lost here ,

are there any new artists today with his style you might know of

  • Truly one of a kind. He was an inspiration to many, myself included. His music was the reason was I endeavored to learn to play the guitar. I still do until now and i owe it to this great musician. Rest in peace Jim!

  • Good evening, friends! The wonderful music of Jim Croce to end this evening-enjoy, and everyone have a great rest of the weekend!

  • I miss this guys talent, need more musicians like him. Too bad he was quitting music the day he died. Not many people know that but it was his last concert and he was going back home to be a dad.

  • @mcsnaperville '...no, no, no, no. That's not the way it was'. Sherman TX was to be the last stop. This stop was a make-up engagement from over a year & a half before when no one knew them. Yes he was taking probably a rest but make no mistake, Jim and Maury were going places not even they could imagine. We were so cheated & robbed of their blazing talent and was to come.

  • never did it enter my mind that Luigi, the brother of Super Mario, also sings.

  • Great quality video for such amazing performance. Hope you upload more of his great songs (they're all great by the way) with same quality.

  • he seems so freakin sweet. :(

  • Singer's first music I can listen to different languages

  • Beautiful song of my youth; Jim can sing and play guitar so beautifully. A flood of memories!

  • Never heard two ovations sound so good. Thank you Jim and Maury for a really beautiful song.

  • @tchodgd If you think that sounds good, listen to ..Leroy Brown from the same BBC rehearsal. Maury makes that Ovation scream.

  • This is when music was truly beautiful

  • Thank you too all who encourage the sharing of this amazing man's gifted music.

  • You definitely DON'T mess around with Jim--he was a BADASS singer/songwriter/musician.

  • all his songs are beautiful end!

  • With all respect to the master Jim Croce, my girlfriend just said that he looks like Mr Potato head from toy story and I can't get that image out of my mind.

  • Jim Croce's songs are saving my life these days.Lifting me out of a severe depression.Thank god for his words and music and their healing powers.

  • i remember this from 1975, my ex played it for me over the phone, at the time i didn't get it, but i soon did when she divorced me.

  • iw32, you should not put yourself down. You’re alive & can still make your mark if you want. You wouldn’t want to exit the way they did—so violently, & much too young. They practised like mad to develop their talents & paid big-time dues. When Jim & Maury started performing together, they had to do gigs in dives for small $. They were broke. Once they stayed at a cheap hotel & got poisoned by the lousy food there. They probably had to cancel their show & lose what little money they were getting.

  • @kntshrm Thank you for your kind words. All the best to you.

  • You got your Emmit Smith for football,With the talented for music you have Jim!!!

  • 'Cause tables are meant for turning

And people are meant for change

And bridges are meant for burning

When the people and memories they join aren't the same.

    How insightful is that?

  • song makes me cry cause it feels like someone else is saying the same thing to me.

  • I'm an unattractive man much like Jim Croce was but he had great talent and a beautiful voice and I'm just a worthless loser! :(

  • @iw32 Hang in there, brother. There are more of us than you know!

  • @phrogbubba Thanks! :)

  • @iw32 Noone is worthless man. NOONE! We all have our faults, just overlook them and find your strength. Peace man.

  • @mach1franco Thank you for your kind words.

  • @iw32 No u r not. Evert one deserves love. Even us ugly people! Im fat so I believe im ugly, but i deserve love to. Have a blessed day

  • @darkladyshannon Thank you.I'm also overweight so I can identify.May you find true love and happiness.

  • @iw32 No u r not. Every one deserves love. Even us ugly people! Im fat so I believe im ugly, but i deserve love to. Have a blessed day

  • I would hang upon a lovers cross for any woman who would give me the time of day!

  • Why do planes crash?

  • Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, & Paul Williams = The 3 best singer/songwriters in America. (I'd say the planet, but then I'd just sound like another ego-centric American)

  • Another lovely ballad by the brilliant Jim Croce.Gone too soon!

  • My father introduced me to Mr. Croce. it's 2011 and i'm 30 and this is still better than anthing written in the last 40 years. (and i used to consider myself a metalhead and still do a bit).

  • @NowellRox I been an Iron Maiden fan for over 30 years man. You dont have to listen to just one type of music. I listen to everything except hard rap. Keep rocking man, but keep the lighter side there.

  • I love these videos

    Thank you for posting ..

  • :E Miss you Jim

  • has it been that long that he's gone? what a talent he was...

  • If only he had lived to fulfill his promise . . . Be at peace Jim. We love the music still

  • Velvet voice, magic fingers and a really, truly sweet guy! Thirty five years later and I still miss him.

  • Jim also never really reaped the reward for his music, he only really got airtime and more famous after his untimely passing, and why are there 16 dislikes!!! WTF!!

  • @ferminreyesjr Always thought the same jim especially.. he was the first great cross over artist... he saved my life as a youngster... If he was alive music would have been different...

  • How can anyone not like this music? It's beond me.......

  • Oh my God! Jime Croce was so very talented. Imagine if he was still with us today? Imagine the beautiful music he would sing? We can only dream. :-( Thanks for such a beautiful post.

  • How long has it been--and I still miss Jim and Maurie. Jim had the voice and writing talent, but it wouldn't have been the same without Maurie's guitar style. At least we have his music--and Ingrid and A.J. to keep him on our minds and in our hearts.

  • Jim Croce 's gotten me through some of the worst times in my life. Such an Underrated Genius and true human being.

  • It kind of looks like Ted Neeley on guitar.

  • 30 odd yrs on and im just finding out how good he was, onya jim.

  • I've always loved this song and all his others. What a shame he died so young, he had such a wonderful voice and style, He still lives on in our memories and in the soundtrack of our lives and those early fun '70's! Thanks, Jim for leaving a legacy of such good music for us!

  • #RomanticMusic ЧУДОВА ЛІРИЧНА ПІСЕНЬКА ДЖІМА КРОСА . ПОСЛУХАЙТЕ !!! Jim Croce - Lovers Cross

  • This song is one of Jim's best melodically, poetically, and all around musically. Somehow he's able to repeat his majestic talents in every song he creates. Truly one of the finest.

  • watch,dont fish and drive!

  • for more than 30 years jim's music is my all time favourite music.

  • Check out Jims son, AJ..amazing!

  • Jim is an angel somewhere.

  • I remember Jim's passing that first week of High School back in '73. I learned of his death at the bus stop on B'way and 225th in the Bronx. It is one of those moments that has been etched into my memory. I was stunned that day. His music was so poignant. Two of the best balladeers of our generation passed away too young......Harry Chapin and Jim Croce. As one poster on this page said, Jim was real talent. His music moves us in ways not too many can.

  • I really love his voice. No one else has ever sounded like that. I still miss him to this day, but as someone else said, his music will be in my heart forever.

  • You`re all so right. I can only wonder what gems he would`ve continued to come up with if only he`d lived longer. A tragic loss, and one of the all time greats. We cant afford to lose talent like that in an X Factor/Pop Idol age. One of my biggest influences. Bri

  • @trumarksurfnut... brian. i hope you check out my tribute to maury muehleisen, titled maury muehleisen & jim croce.

  • The master at work. There was no one like him. Such a pure talent cut down in his prime.
