Leafs are inferior to coils, especially when transversely mounted, as in the vette. When one side flexes, it transfers tension throughout the leaf, affected the opposite side as well, but not in the way you'd like. Ideally, you would want the other side to flex more to level the car, but the leaf has to balance tension and actually makes it stiffer on the wrong side

Woah now cowboy. Youre right on some major pictures, but wrong in the details. The TLS does effect the other side, but it effects it equally. This is hardly a bad thing and is taken advantage of, this means it works somewhat like a sway-bar, allowing the car to run a much smaller one than otherwise needed for the spring weight. Ideally yes youd want the otherside to stiffen more to balance it out, but last time i checked- ive never seen a coil spring do this either. So why bring it up?

it is far easier to calibrate a suspension setup with a set of coils and a swaybar. The sway bar can vary in thickness for different amounts of idependence between the sides without affecting springs rates or stiffness.

If you want a stiffer sway-bar effect from a tls, you have to get a stiffer spring, which also changes the spring rate and stiffness

Not true at ALL....watch the Top Gear video with the Stig driving an Audi A8 and Jeremy driving an American Cadillac CTS-V. Even Jeremy had to admit it kicked ass and WASTED the Audi in the corners. The Dodge Neon SRT-4 took tons of rally titles home it's first year. And tons of others...but I'll give it that American cars loose about 60% overall in handling....but the Japanese have us ALL beat..lol :D

Japanese beat everyone in handling because a lot of Japanese cars like evo and gtr have electronic stability system. THose chips they put in sense the differential on each wheel and adjust plus the 4wd capability that makes it capable. Its also the design of the car that makes japanese car in corners swift. However, jap cars will lose in straight runs.

But like i said before, American cars are not design for fast pace cornering its too easily to go oversteer and understeer. A slip up = crash.

the rally circuits are a whole different breed. ford and citroen dominate there.
