  • Loved this! I had long forgotten this version. Do you know who performed it?

  • its a great Japanese song. No matter where there are born, they sing a same song in various language. This is how good music over the broad. This is used to cheer Japans up from Thunami.

  • i prefer the original =-l

  • @Sesshomaus1fangirl , Yes, the original is always the best, because the original gets attached to memories of the past. It's all feeling and emotion....

  • THANKS FOR THE SING-A-LONG

  • this was made on 1963 i think and imagine when we are in 2050 everyone of us will be dead and this song will be gone D: and no one will ever know or remember this song ever again unless some famous person played this song

  • Is this a a pretty close translation of the origiinal Japanese ? Very cool in any case ....

  • i thought 4pm was a korean band?! im confused

  • These are not the literal translation, but only an American verse to the original Japanese melody.

Although not genuine lyrics, I respect the new lyrics and this video.

    Thanks for making

  • great song although completely defferent title and lyrics in Japan...

  • AH now i see how this song can sound in english...but orginal will always be No1..

  • The original version is on youtube and has the words. Nothing like this

  • @mollymitch1 provide a link please?

  • tks ban

  • i love this song

  • Nice.

  • I sang this in my sophomore year in highschool... had girls ALL over me afterward! never forgot the words.

  • @hoahongtim142 The original song is Japanese, but the title is 上を向いて歩こう.

(I live in Japan... this is a very, very well known song)

  • I like how this song is named after a Japanese food.

  • why is this song called 'sukiyaki'?

  • @vampireluv1231 The original was known as Ue wo Muite Arukō, which is I Look Up As I Walk. I heard when Sakamoto had the song come out in the states, it was changed to Sukiyaki becuase it is a well known Japapnese dish.

Thats what I heard, so dont count this as the real reason.

  • @vampireluv1231 because it sounds Japanese. Pretty silly title, but what can you do.

  • So cool

  • i didnt know this version! really cool XD

  • this is such a sweet song! I love it !

  • this song is nice i loved it

  • THIS could be a great song and words....only NOT to the tune and melody of Sukiyaki !!

  • AWFUL.....wrong lyrics from the original Japanese version in which this song was written and sung so beautifully by Kyu Sakamoto.

  • Lyrics are wrong lol It's "Soaked with love are my thoughts of you!"

  • The lyrics in Japanese are different. It's about looking up while walking so one's tears won't fall in the original version.

  • love this song

  • such a great song

only japanese song to ever hit american top 100 charts

  • Only japanese music... Lyrics by 4pm. So not Japanese really.

Look on youtube for english original lyrics... quite different.

  • I have loved this song for as long as I can remember! Some days it makes me laugh, and some it brings me to my knees. I love it!
