  • CHICKENS C:

  • how long does it take for an egg to hatch?

  • @mikmaqsniper117 21 - 26 days :)

  • I live in the city where we are allowed to have 3 hens. We got them as babies and 2 days ago received our 1st egg! We are so excited! Our other two should be laying soon. Thanks for this video!

  • do they all make a noise when they lay an egg or just some of them?

  • @MissSashaFierce1982 They usually make that noise whenever they lay; they seem loud when you're near them, but they do their business in their coop, so it's not that loud outside. Our neighbors have chickens as well, and I never hear them... I just hear mine when I'm in the back garden (20' away). Now... another neighbor has a rooster, and we definitely hear that, but it's far enough away that it's not a nuisance.

  • @thomaswilhelm a rooster... isnt that a cockrel, a male chicken?

  • @MissSashaFierce1982 sometimes one day before they lay a egg they make nosie that they going to lay a egg

  • aww i love the noise, just worry what the neighbours would think lol

  • are they white ones leghorns?

  • how long do they make that noise for after they lay an egg?

  • @MissSashaFierce1982 Only for a minute or two. If I'm in the garden and I hear that noise, I typically go check things out since I assume that an egg was laid.

  • @thomaswilhelm I'm confused. The hen sounded pretty quite the majority of the time she was getting ready to lay, except for a mild soft clucking at the beginning of the video. The next time we heard her wasn't she just reacting to you picking up her egg? Wasn't that just her anti-predator call? Or would she have vocalized like that anyway? Are there any words or names to describe the various chicken vocalizations? Thanks!

  • @JerushaDahm They pretty much all do the vocalization at the end after they lay an egg - she wasn't just reacting to me taking the egg.

  • its so boring

  • arnt the wite ones ROOSTERS?

  • @TheRezwar No - they are all hens. We aren't allowed to have roosters in the city.

  • @thomaswilhelm ohhh okay sorry I just thought they were roosters
