Have heard these track in audio for ages..always imagining how it looked when these both great players jammed. Finally seen the video. Thanks ccylin7.Applauses...for Kazumi and Larry for coming with such a legendary track 4 me.
Am I really the only one to notice the other guitarist is Larry Coryell? He's not even in the title. AND look him up. Good piece, I prefer Al Di Meola's version of the song, which he plays with his acoustic band, now that's really a find.

These guys just butchered Libertango. Poor Piazzolla: He must be turning in his grave, even considering the fact that he was so open to exploring new musical possibilities.
This may be a great musical exercise but I don't hear Libertango in it. It sounds more like Libel-tango or Libertine-go.
Well, sure, I can not play as him, certainly: I dont wanna play as him, I just dont like a show where all you can see are quickly moving fingers, sorry, but I dont feel the ART in this show, its just boring. Anyway, I like the way Kazumi plays without any problem about the notes he wants to play, and they didnt sound. The result is an pizzicato that has an intention of note.
why would u compare ? imp its a diff instrument.. from the construction phase to the playing. both r amazing in their own field. but if ur point is that the steel is more exposed on the media ur totally right :)
what i meant is kazumi is a cheap version of mclaughlin, he just plays like my cousin who is strugglin in the streets of boston; he's(kazumi) a good electric player though
Listen to 'Dogtana' and get back to me. When your cousin makes a record that good (and Kazumi made it in--what? 1981 or something??), perhaps I'll take you seriously. Playing acoustic since forever; the "Holdsworth wanna-be/McLaughlin wanna-be" claptrap is old & tired. They're all peers, mining the same vein, but with their own personalities. What it comes down to is...can you play like him? Probably unlikely. Can I? No. So shaddup and enjoy a talented set of musicians (including Mr. Coryell).
listen John McLaughlin and Paco del lucia!!!

Maybe it's just Watanabe, but the first seconds sounded like the Castlevania 3 intro. ;)

I like this, but ...
there are two additional guitar versions of libertango i like even more:
of Andrey Dobrovolsky and the best is Oshio Kotaro's version.

Just wonderfull playing. Coryell is an incredible compressor of idioms- a national treasure

here kazumi wants to be the pop version of mclaughlin.
marez71 5 years ago
Watanabe is not a pop version of anybody. Instead of making stupid comments why not just go practice your axe.
