  • i'm just curious as to how do you fully empty the propane bottle in order to cut into it? im loving the idea of using one for that purpose but im not sure how to do it safely?

any feed back on this would be greatly appreciated...

  • @Letendrejared Hi, the hardest bit is getting the valve off, make sure the bottle is "empty" i.e. used up, then away from the house lay the bottle on its side, you will need to brace through the handles with a pole of some sort, use an extension pole on your spanner/stilsons because it will be a bind to get off (prepare for bad language throughout this bit), once off invert bottle, gas heavier than air drains out, leave for a day, upright the bottle and put a hosepipe into....cont..

  • @Letendrejared cont...hosepipe into the hole and fill bottle and then let water continue running for an hour or so, empty bottle, it will still smell but be safe to work on....hope this helps and good luck removing the valve.....have fun...

  • continued....the height of burner and 45s you should still get 2 meters of pipe inside, (i'm assuming you can go out op the roof, if notreverse the process higher up to take it out again, you would have to run it with an unbaffled chimney so flames do go up rather than get trapped in the burner heating it up, the pipe will get so hot you can light fags on it! This works better with only 2 45s to aid draw on the fire but will work with more (not good with 90 degree turns) hope this helps

  • Sorry been busy in the shop, right, I'll try again, typed all this out on a phone the other day and lost it twice so gave up...

If possible mount the burner outside and close to the wall (if not flammable) if you fit a 45 degree angle on the chimney and run a pipe through the wall, inside add another 45 to run the pipe up the inside of the wall, I did this in my house in Portugal with stainless pipe, never needs maintaining, assuming your inside height is about 3 meters, allowing for (continued)

  • I'll send a reply when I get to a computer hopefully tommorow...cheers....Mart

  • how can i do this? have a wood stove outside and get heat inside?

  • lol...this is a dumb question, but we had an argument over this at the bodyshop, some guys are saying the wood stove gets hot and thats what heats up the room and not the actualy open flame but of course it take the flames to heat up the barrel....im trying to find a way to have a small wood stove outside my small 2 car garage at home where i do some side jobs, i dont like the idea of having a stove in the garage because i would have motoroil, gasoline, and some occasionaly painting

  • @jettastreetracer see above for your answer, sorry did it on a phone...

  • can you use these in a home?

  • if it had a glass door id buy one.....how much(im in england)

  • neat job, how much would you charge for 1?

  • great job what size propain tank is that

  • nice design but one thing i would suggest is that you dont cut the whole front off the bottle because when it is opened smoke will pour out, just make a small door in the front of the bottle. but still a nice stove.

  • If it's a stove, where's the cooking surface? Looks nice though.

  • well done very informative vid. and yep, im gonnna copy yours lol

  • Great video and outstanding job. Looks like it will heat a large room!

  • @mik22pik.........Thank you for your feedback, and yes, for their size they are very efficient I have one in a workshop 33' x 11' and with the burner "burning" I have to leave the door open and with the burner shut down it stays really comfortable in there. Thanks again my friend..........Mart
