It seems like when Collective Soul did this, they might have had bands like Gin Blossoms and Toad the Wet Sprocket in mind.....as this song delves into that kind of sound. Great song.

I used to listen to Collective Soul all the time back when I was in my teens. I have just recently rediscovered my love for them! This is one of their best songs, although definitely not the most popular!

Lead Singer Ed Roland said he got the inspiration to write this song after stopping at Gas Station/Party store while they were on tour and he saw this little girl tugging on her Mom's dress asking her "Where does the sun go when it rains?".

He said he went back on the bus and wrote this song.

Cool how shit like that happens.
