  • we got some one at are clucb called one lap john because he likes too well open the regualtor fully and well the wheels are just a blurr but dont open the reguator and let the wheels slip u wear the out much quicker and also run the other way some times it lets the wheels wear the other way also are masises whistel is much louder hehe

  • @CyberFur I doubt that your maisie whistle is louder, than my scratchbuilt current one. Watch the cab ride vid. It is a REAL whistle (dual chime) and not a crappy english one that squeels. Also we run on proper rail here not barstock. And my maisie no doub has more pulling capacity than any other. in this video it was harly restored from its 73 years of and the throttle stuck. I'e run over twenty five steam locos and I almost never slip the drivers or blow the safetyl valves.

  • Did you build this yourself using LBSC's "Words and Music"?

  • Boy, she sure looked different back then without the paint and the fenders. I haven't seen you run clockwise since 2007. It's that nasty grade next to the red water tower next to the steaming bays ramp, isn't it? I personally haven't run clockwise with #471 for quite a while now. It's certainly a different experience.

  • Well, I don't like running clockwise because of the steaming bay switch, the grade is nothing, the engine has no real problem with that.

  • Ah, I debugged that switch several months ago. Too many pine needles and crap in between the points...

    -Alex

  • Hello Jamie. Yes it is actually 3-1/2" gauge, and it does weigh in at around 100 lbs, which is heavy for a loco in this scale. A speedy 0-6-0T is a nice little loco. Very cool.

    -Oskar

  • That is quite a big loco for 3 1/4 inch, a friend of mine is building a 5 inch speedy, not sure iif you have heard of one of those, they are a british design of a pannier tank!

    Nice little locos.

    Great video!

  • Be a little easier on the throttle

  • I was, but at that time, the throttle needed a packing overhaul and was hanging over the firebox door so every time I shoveled coal in it would jerk out and slip because the shovel kept hitting it. This loco was built in 1936, so it had a lot of problems when I got it.

  • lol ok just checking

  • Great exhaust beat - what a fantastic loco.

What colour will you paint her?

    Neil

  • Thanks sooo much Neil! This video was shot in december of last year, so we have running boards and added weight to her for traction, I will paint her a sort of dark green, I've primed the boiler jacket and splashers now, so she'll be painted soon! The timing is a little off, but I'll get around to tweeking it soon!

    Thanks,

    Oskar

  • Cute little maisie! looks good.

  • Thanks!!!, I try to run it well, but i've got to work on controling the pressure better. Between the cuts the saftey is not usualy blowing, but my dad thought it cool to show the evacuating steam. And by the way, thanks for subscribing!!!!!!

  • Awesome! I am not sure what I am more amazed at you, or how cool it is that you built maisie! Congratulations, a great accomplishment!!!

  • Hello all, I actually did'nt build the Maisie Atlantic, however, when I got it, it was in very bad shape and required many overhauls. Thanks for commenting, Oskar(chappybolo)

  • Good to see Maisie running....and running Keep up the good work.

  • Looking good... keep us up to date on the restoration.

  • We just finished the fenders, and we are working on the cab-operated cylinder cocks. the loco also needs added weight, and I will have some vids of it on the LALS springmeet in May.

    Oskar

  • Keep up with the videos even if it's just showing off your latest work! :-)
