They should start to make a semi-diesel again. The best features of all the makers, though I don't know if the blow-torch pre-heat can be used with an electrical system as backup.

You could collect and filter the waste oil of every takeaway in town and use as fuel.

When mineral oil reserves faltered such a basic engine might be more readily adaptable to bio alternatives.

My parents has a Norwegian fishing boat with that exact same 30 HK Union. The boat was a Kutter which has a straight stem and a fantail stern, a prettier boat in my mind...
