Isn't Bill great? Read about Alexis Korner sometime and be amazed. His influence and contribution to so many in British rock is incredible and yet unknown. How about Stu? Does anyone know of anywhere else that you can see this master of boogie woogie play like this? You checked out way to soon Stu.
@chungiemunchin Paul is a(pop-music)_God.His basslines are the finest in pop-history.Bill is a good RocknRoll-Bassist and iadmitt singing and good bass-playing same time is difficult.
@widdyhabb He actually sang "In Another Land" off the Satanic Majesties Request album. Actually not a lot of people know it but Bill's song je sus un rock star was the largest selling single off of any Stones' solo album.
This is a very special musical moment. The historical importance cannot be overstated. I have been a Stones fan since 1964, and appreciate all that they have contributed to music. I was born 1500' from Alexis Korners Killing floor in Ealing in 1953, but never knew it until two years ago after reading Bills Book. Bought my first guitar in 1965 and still playing today. These cats influenced my life for sure. They did a great deal for music.
Chck out the Youtube Vid Bill Wyman Peebles talk part one. It was only Last Year I think, but he has his Daughter with him. I think shes only about 10 Years old.
PMSL...Nice try Bill. Don't look anything like 70 though. If you'd been the singer instead of Mick you'd never have got beyond Studio 51. Isn't YouTube great!
bill looks great for 70 much better than jagger whos younger than him bill was born in the 30s loved his bass playing with the stones also his books are great
let's be realistic! Have you heard Keith Richards and Ron Wood backing vocals after 1973? Sometimes really awful, sometimes good. I mean, Bill Wyman could have done it also (and in my memory, he did sing backing vocals when they covered Chuck Berry at their debut).
not bad. good on you Bill. let this be a lesson to all! start singing now before its too late. just think of what he could have done with a little encouragement. (I thought he was bloody Elvis I did).
Hell the reason Ian Stewart was officially not in the band (although he toured and recorded with them as the unofficial keyboard player) was because he didn't "look good enough." Even in this clip he gets very little face-time (you see a lot of his hands though - like the Stones, they couldn't deny his talent)
Syrren - You just don't get it, do you ? Your comment show's an ignorant and arrogant view. Go put on some Abba. Your obviously NOT too smart. What a friggin' comment!
Syreen - I was a bit harsh in my previous statement. Mick wasn't CHOSEN as the front man, he always was. As far as "embarrassing awful". This is what got my goat. No,Wyman can't sing too well, but that's not the point. It's his 70th birthday party. Let the man cut loose if he wants to. No need to compare. Get It !!!
Ian Stewart was the man, so was Nicky Hopkins, but some people think Ian Stewart looked like Jay Leno in the film LETS SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER

As singing bassists go, Paul McCartney has nothing to fear from Mr. Wyman!

Always wondered why Bill W. never sang on any of the Stones recordings. Now I know.

Not quite right.
He sings "In Another Land" on the Stones album "Their Satanic Majesty Request" from 1967. Believe it or not!

In sense thats true, he's not a great Singer, but then again he's never ever claimed to be. He was always a committed Bassist, thats his Forte.
And I guess many 70 Year olds envy how he looks today.

The albums Wyman made were not very good as he seemed to become a singer songwriter. He needs to stick to covers.
You can also see why Jagger was the Stones singer!
