the important thing is, both these guys grew up poor. very poor. kids now have nothing to fight for. if you've got a cell phone and a playstation, why go to the gym?
when you look back, all the great heavyweights came from low economic backgrounds. they were HUNGRY.
This is my all-time favorite fight. I'd rather be at this than the fight of the century, rumble in the jungle, or the thrilla in manila. Get a good look at Evander, people. This is what a real warrior looks like. Bowe was just too powerful and absorbant. Evander played right into his hands, getting into a slugfest to prove himself and that's why he lost.
Yes, those were the days when even if you didnt watch tv or listen to radio, you would still hear the names of the good fighters by word of mouth. Thats how good they were.
But these days, no-one talks much about the current boxers and the only reason why you hear so much about them is cos the media splatters them all over the internet lol
for some reason these guys look really sluggish, especially bowe, he's just covering up really well and not taking anything to the head, holyfeilds just bouncing around, getting hit and missing all his shots, he was trying to prove too much, getting into a slugfest with a much more powerful fighter
How good were these 2 in their primes? Bowe fights amazingly well inside for such a big man. Would have been an all time great if not for the lack of dicipline :-(
Riddick Bowe's career in the 80's and 90's lasted from 89 to 96. In 7 years he had 40 professional fights. Today he suffers from boxing related brain damage. Holyfield is walking into a lot of punches, George Foreman described Evander Holyfield as someone who wanted a hard life by doing that. He was sure not to stand in front of Foreman.
Evander fucked Bowe's brains up. After the fights his speach patern had changed and he had behavioral problems typical for braindamage. Do you realy think Golota would be able to last a full fight against the bowe we see in this fight? He was shot when he fought Golota.
Rather than those Doctors being specific and pointing out that Bowe was fine after the 3rd Holyfield fight, they choose to twist the stories and say 'oh! Bowe speech pattern were fine between the Holyfield & Bowe era, while they changed between the Golota and Bowe era!
To be more specific: Riddick Bowe speech pattern was fine after he Ko Holyfield! It only changed 'after' the first fight with Golota!
It's funny how the American Dr twist their Darwin theory to dis-credit Golota
I heart it myself. Iw as very clear that Bowe speaks blury after the Holfield fights and before he talked much better. That and the weight problems he had. The guy had to lose more then 60 pounds on a few weeks before the Golota fight. He was just a shell of his former self.
This fight really doesn't receive as much attention as it should. It was probably the tightest, most evenly matched heavyweight title fight since Holmes-Norton.
Holyfield could have cruised right through this fight. I don't know why he decided to trade with a guy 30lbs heavier than him. The 5th round shows exactly how holy could have sailed right through to victory.
6:20 George Benton's voice is so surreal because of the Meldrick Taylor robbery against Chavez. All I keep hearing him tell Meldrick is "...you getting hit too much". True but he still was robbed of that victory.

This is just a war
these r 2 tough, chinny, grinder motherfuckers
Holyfield's got more heart and chin i'd say, but he just leaves himself too open and can't pierce the hide of bowe
its like a tiger fighting a bear

Bowes head trauma probably came from training camp because he was so lazy his sparring partners would tee off on him.
