what an ass. Ruger inc. is miles better without him. There are 30 round factory mags for the mini's and their accuracy has improved.

The sig piston rifles 223/308 look affordable and good, and as far as I know Sig USA has never stabbed civilian guns owners in the back.

@hapelliotte stay away from ruger and HK. too expensive , and with ruger sure they make good guns but they arent as reliable as what they should be for what your paying. century arms is a gamble sometimes but ive bought 3 firearms from them and they have yet to screw me over. hi-point is another good budget company ( they have a bad rep too but thats been disproven) what specific type are you looking for? semi auto, bolt action, low cost, reliability wise?

@joshkkv hi, thanks. I'm interested in a 308 piston rifle thats accurate. sig's might be good. lwrc is expensive but they can be extremely accurate. I dont know about POF but scar 17s seems good too. I wish the barrel on the scar 17s was thicker & after market trigger would be a go. very expensive rifles I talk of :)

Out of all mentioned, sig might be most affordable.

for years, ruger mini-14/ mini-30 was so innacurate for no reason. this was as insane as bill ruger's anti gun owner comments.

@hapelliotte bill ruger...the mans a joke. anyway, yes scars are very expensive lol. main reason is the fact they are fairly new and are fairly advanced compared to ak's and the like. but technologically advanced doesnt really mean alot, you could have an old russian m91/30 ( which i reccomend. very hard hitting and very accurate and only 90-120$) or what have you. all depends on the skill of the shooter. stick with simple guns, they last longer and usually do better.

can someone tell me if .223 is a decent self defense round? As in, would you reach for it over your 9, 40 or 45 due to its incredible accuracy, or is the damage done just not enough in soft tissue? Thanks

I would absolutely reach for it before reaching for ANY handgun, to include a .44 magnum. 45=230 grains at 800 feet per second about 440 foot pounds energy ---- 223 = 62 grains at 3,200 feet per second. 1275 ft pounds energy
