I think its important to remember that Sid & Nancy were hitting pretty heavy drugs at the time and in high doses. Watch Sid in interviews he lived in a constant state of high and I don't think it would be a stretch to say that his sense of reality was seriously warped. I think its very likely that he did accidently kill Nancy and it was only after he detoxified @ Rikers that he realized the truth and couldn't live with himself. Drugs in these amounts are very dangerous & unpredictable.
