  • still fake 1:13 her eyes o.O

  • Where is the CG?

  • best animation I've seen so far...if I didn't know it was cgi I probably wouldn't have noticed...the only differences I saw that would have given it away would have been something was wrong with the eyes/mouth, her face was too smooth(not enough noise or too much anti aliasing), and finally the red in her face needed more opacity...other then that dead on :)

  • This is really impressive. i don't know why so many people are hating on it. My question now is how would we react if we were never told it was a CGI face?

  • @braxinIV Well, that's the trick isn't it? Anyone can spot "mistakes" when they know what they're looking for.

  • @armondikov Very true. It would just be really interesting to see how people reacted to the video and then a year later were told it was a CG face.

  • I MEANT TO SAY 3!

  • For almost two years old this is still outstanding .. For me it's the mouth, it's ever so slightly distorted.

  • the problem with the eyes is that sometimes the blink has the wrong spacing. They probably didn't put all the effort they could onto this.

  • Her eyes are the worst part of her. They don't move...right.

  • does she even got eyelashes? i dont see any, lol...

  • ok, on the other side it is ´close to real´ but nothing will ever be convincent enough for me, for one reason mainly: the purpose of each movement is real only if its done by a real person, and that anyone can tell, because its about something that makes sense.. or doesnt, its just as simple as that even if an army of 100 rendering monkeys struggle on each plane to get the ´real effect´ .. sorry, no reality invention is possible, you can keep trying though.. ;)

  • that's really disgusting!!

her mouth is so dark, like if she had had some blood or someone bitten in the brains..

her teeth look dirty and out of scale...

her skin is porcelain rendering, her cloth is glass-like transparency,

.. think about doing something more creative for gods sake...this is a waste of time!

and the light is really non realistic, coming from the top but not illuminating her hair (sunlike ligth) and leaving her face dark.. for not telling off the artificial voluming

  • @martinianox Dude, only her face was animated. Everything else was real. Did you not see the ending where they show the real Emily?

  • it's really really reallt good but you can still tell...

  • all they did was copy the face. ---gave it all the blend shapes it needed.. -- but what about the lighting? she looked like she had caked makeup! --- here teeth were too specular and maybe with occlusion? she looked like she had braces. but watever. good shit

  • @0TylerDurden0 Yea, why bother filming someone and then digitally recreating the exact same movements. This technology is impressive, but would be even more so if they could create a fictional situation with the same realness

  • that girl has some problem with her face - probably botox or something.

they should have picked someone else for the source ...

  • @svartberg123

    SHE'S A 3D MODEL...

  • @FrancescaK4 - ya, but the source model, Emily Obrien is bad, look at the lack of facial movement, which is the result of plastic surgery ....

That's a bad judgment call, when their facial tracking system is capable of much more.

  • @svartberg123

I completely agree. What were they thinking. Why not get in an expressive actor to really sell it. Rather than a model who looks unnatural from the offset.

  • I love watching bitches talk about a whole load a shit they know nothing about.

  • haha! that was awesome

  • The first time I watched this I thought her teeth looked a little funny and her make-up was odd. I don't think I would have guessed it was CGI without the extra clues.

  • I want that head to give me head in oblivion 10.

  • Yeah, only the face is CG. Check the part at the end where the face gets a different color. That's the only part of her that was animated.

  • I think it's funny how most everyone here is talking about whatever technical thing she is sharing - all I can think about is Jana. Haha

  • LMAO....I had to watch the damn clip like 3 times to actually get what the hell she was talking about. I was too busy drooling at Jana Fisher. She is soo pretty.

  • hell yea, she shouldve used the accent in this vid haha

  • its weird hearing emily's accent as an american im so used to hearing her as English

  • She's the girl from Young And The Restless, right?

  • hey you're right, looks much like her. maybe it is

  • holy shit, that's fucking incredible!

  • Hahahaha, it is

  • The girl was CGI up until the end where it said "Plate (real Emily)." That was the real girl they used as the model for the simulation. Also I'm pretty sure the hands and possibly the dress were also real.

  • Does the specular map render scare anyone else?

  • Its somewhat a recollection of the scene in Batman Begins. Where Batman gave the Scarecrow a whiff of his own medicine!

  • wait so just the face was CG? Not the hair, the clothes or the hands?

I looks good, but I don't think even the Ps3/360 could handle the power it would take to make this work in real time.

  • PS3/360 can barely handle GTA 4:P.

You would need Nvidia Tesla C1060 x 100 for full CG :p.

  • you're talking about rendering polygons in real time for a game.... this is rendered as video and can be processed by a network of machines

  • I know, that's why I said it would take over 1000 Tesla C1060's to do this in real time :p.

  • a 100 years ago, they said it would take a 1000 horses to run faster than the speed of sound

  • everybody knows it takes 10 000 horses to do that

  • This is realtime rendered with an ati radeon 4870 ;-) And this is True ;-)

  • look on youtube for ATI Cinema 2.0

  • realtime?? holy shit

  • PC is best.

  • The ONLY telling aspect is the eyes. STILL THE EYES! Jump between the 3d version and the plate. The eyes are less 'alive' in the 3d version, IMO. But, way to go on the overall. That's still the most 'real' 3d character I've seen to date.

  • The model need work, and it looks like they're cheating the model in real time with photoshop-style glosses.

  • i;m just going to have to slap you,

    how did that feel,

i don't know, you ask krysta

  • yeah i was wondering that too, is the whole thing an animation, or is it just her face. When I had watched it, i hadn't read that it was a CG and when they started manipulating with it like the colors and changing the plate i guess, i realized it was an animation. Very close...its the next step, more than like the Xbox 720, Playstation 4 will probably harness the full potential of this project more than likely

  • *ahem* PC before any of those things you mentioned.

  • c'mon, it'd be Crysis all over again, you'd need a rediculously up-to-date computer to manage that kindof stuff. It's a joke for them to even hint that that's the quality you'd see in a game. Maybe if we got in a time machine and zipped waaaaay into the future, but they already use similar stuff in games now. Resednet evil 5 used it alot, you can tell by the realistic little facial expressions. They should stop tring to make them look more realistic, and just feel realistic.

  • only the face is 3d!

  • Hands down the most realistic animation I've ever seen. Even knowing that its CG, I'm still thrown off.

  • The shirt details and lighting are simply AMAZING, but the face is kind of where it falters. The eyes are little off, and the mouth seems a little loose. But that's just because I already read it was Cg before I saw it...

  • wasn't it just the face that was CG...?

  • yeah me too if i haven't read that before i would have think it was all real it was simply whoa! cg is amazing yeah the thing that for me didn't look off was the mouth it was like moving a little too much....but when u see the real person u still think ur seeing cg maybe is the person.....but simply whoa by 2012 we'll get it for sure and by 2015 on cnsoles(maybe)

  • the reason the shirt was amazing was because it was real. only the face was cg. you can even see where the join is.

  • Animation is getting better and better, but no matter how realistic, the eyes are always where it falters. It's nearly impossible to capture the depth and soul of human eyes.

  • exactly what I was about to say..the eyes almost always look too shiny, or too dark

  • Its kinda creepy, buts its awesome at the same time

  • Because I know it's CG, I can see the difference, but if I was watching this and did not know it was CG, I would think this was real.

  • does anyone like english girls?

How did you know I do that? Da

  • that was awesome. the only thing that gives it away is Emily's face because you can still see a slight distinction between CG and realism. But I'm not complaining at all, this is the best CG I've ever seen.

  • well...wow...animation has come a long way from the pixelated items of the 1980s...

  • Not bad at all, but around the eyes though. I wonder if I would have noticed had I not known it was CG though? Hmm... I wish I could watch this before knowing.

  • damn i knew it was CG and was still convinced that it was real. but yeah i focused on the eyes and yeah i can see a difference

  • Crazy stuff! I still feel uneasy though, something is off, I think it's the mouth sync that just lags slightly in parts, but it's enough to give me that uneasy feeling. If I didn't know it was CG though, I'm sure I would still feel the same but wouldn't give it a thought that it may have been CG. Great stuff!

  • This is incredible CG! I agree, though, that it does look just a *little* off. I think it's actually that you can see a little too much of the whites of her eyes. I think they need to make her iris's larger.

  • yup, that's all animated

  • fuck that was animated?

  • Stunning lighting and texture, very good animation. I don't want to sound like a cliche (the one person who can "always tell"), but her mouth looks off, mostly the way her lips move - and her skin doesn't stretch and compress with her smirk like it does in the plate.

  • That is to say, though it's very very realistic, it's not -quite- out of the uncanny valley.

  • OMG

    scary...

  • HEFTIG !!! :OOOO WOW ... die ist animiert maaaan?!

  • What is the song play background voice from girl?

  • minchia.

  • mirko vuto dirme che chela li lé fata a computer???

  • se te l'è visto tuto te capisi.

Sul sito della image metrics c'è qualche filmato in più...

  • now we now what computergames in a few years will look like. what the heck, if the real world's boring, people will prefer the virtual reality. with 3d-glasses and so on.. talk about the perfect holiday, perfect sex.. perfect murder.. use this graphics in the next counterstrike games and let's see what happens.. =)

  • Ouch, I thought this would be another 10 years into the future. Today is the day I have to stop trusting my eyes. What is left are really only minor imperfections. Image-Metrics found the way out of a valley that was deemed an abyss. Spectacular. It feels more like a curse than a blessing though.

  • Stop whining

  • hmm the lightning is still not perfect the shades are a bit to weak in her face

  • Emily is hot.

    Except when she's specular.

  • bluffant

  • uaaaaaa....che spettakolo!!!!!!!
