The long guitar solo is was an ifluence on Phil Keaggy's playing & sound. Both using les pauls with fender amps.... You can hear alot of Micheal in his playing on the early glass harp.
@stratorlespaul Yeah, not to knock Phil but his whole electric career is based on that solo, he didn't or wasn't able to touch the stuff like Texas etc - but that's cool. Bloomers was the original and so frikkin deep! From 6 00 - 7 00 - utter genius, almost madness, amazing feeling.. nobody touches it.
The solo on the LP is the best solo in the entire era! and I mean starting in 1954 - present. It's totally original, so ballsy and intellectual at same time. It's Picasso and Cubism in approach. The dramatic arc is unlike anything in rock n roll
Learn to appreciate the effort of other poeple who went through alot of shit to make this available to you. What do you want, a video haha, turn on your tv and watch some Mtv. But talent and commercialism have nothing in common.
In my opinion this IS their signature tune. A moody, creative mini-masterpiece of design where everybody shines & Bloomfield has the opportunity to soar. Starting at 2:25 you're literally transported musically to "another country". You know you've arrived with the onset of that distinctive Latin rhythm at 3:38. Thanks for posting this, Zinedineo. To date it appears the studio version of this song has not been uploaded. Would like to see you add it for comparison purposes & high sound quality.
the first time i heard this it blew my mind! i do wish the sound quality was better myself. ill get around to posting the studio version,it sure kicks ass !
Thanks for this. I LOVE Electric Flag and wish someone would put up "Texas" and "If You Knew". However you guys NEED to get hip to the Barcus Berry Enhancer, either the hardware or the VST plugin. You will be shocked how it fixes the mix. Download the trial. Here's betting you're blown away! I've restored 20 plus year old bad cassette mixes. Not affiliated. Just a really pleased user. BTW got any Two Jew's Blues w/ mikel blumfeld?
Thanks for posting this. There are still a few of us old heads around that know how good this stuff is...I have "A Long Time Comin" on my MP3 Player and enjoy it regularly. Great, great music.
where else was Buddy Miles to go after this band broke up, of course to Hendrix.

The studio version has simply the greatest guitar solo in history - a world of moods in itself!!

Bloomfield used to give Santana guitar lessons no joke & 3:38 on one of my favorite passages. What was the connection with Sivuca?
