madhuri was actually pregnant while performing this dance and thats also why they had to make the dress weigh less than it originally did because she couldn't dance in it. and the type of dance this is, is indian classical dance called kathak which takes years and years of training. Madhuri was sooo lucky she got to learn from pandit birju maharaj that's a huge honor and a once in a lifetime opportunity. i learned kathak for 7 years and still can't dance anywhere this good.

She was pregnant during this movie she found out halfway though the movie and this lehegna alone or the skirt weighed 30 kilograms I am not sure how much pounds it is. But during the chakkar steps or when she takes roundd she was not able to manage it and was loosing balance so for some steps they made a similar lehena with a bit less work is what i heard

this was very challenging choreography... this is the beauty of indian dances. u have to work very hard to control ur moves and make it precise. every single position of the hands is choreographed and u have to be in sync with all the dancers dancing with u. madhuri is thats why called the best in the business.
