Love this one... We in Australia have not had TV & Radio licences for ages, I cannot remember when we had them last.

We have licences for Ham Radio but the fee is from memory about $60 aud works out to about 90 UK pounds, and this is to transmit and recieve.

I hope that the UK govt wakes up and just pays the BBC from the normal tax revenue, we do have a GST here of 10% but no silly VAT, methinks the UK punter is being screwed for every penny possible. Not a thing that creates Jobs...
