A collapsible wire frame under the cloth mimics the girl's outline as "she" is lifted up, and a trick sofa allows her to escape back stage and go back into the auditorium. The two magicians swap places when the "girl" is lifted to full height the cloth blocks the view.
It wouldn't fool P&T, but that doesn't matter as it's a very nice effect, well presented and the exchange of magicians was a complete surprise.
Okay shouldn't they chose the newer verison of the Phantom of the opera with Gerald and Emmy? The original recording is dumb...and the mask isn't black and white, it is white.
@Hemanzn1 I didn't notice at the time, that is why they say you should not perform the same trick twice and with Youtube you can scrutinize things too closely.
When he pointed out where his dad was sitting, and then put on a mask, I kind of suspected they were going to switch, but it was still awesome to see. :-)
I thought the assistants were gonna grab her head and feet and pull her somehow-already-sawn-in-half body apart into two sections in full view of the audience. That would have been a great trick.
None of all that curtains and sneaking around and stuff.
Give Martin a show, I say. It's one of the best tricks in the book, but of course it looks better on stage than if you happen to be sitting in the audience when Paul gets off.
@CheyenneOfficial10 The way the trick works is, his dad slips out of the audience and goes behind stage, when the girl lays down(supposedly) she lays on the floor(fake bottom underneath) the when the fake body is raised all the way pay close attention to the curtains(you can see them open where Martin and the woman slip out and Paul daniels slips in) Paul takes over holding the "girl" as his son and the girl position themselves behind P&T. :-)
@kalloused Yes, but the sheer theater of the piece makes it so good. There is so much misleading throughout the piece and the music takes your attention away from the minor details.
At first I was like "oh, another levetation trick, he's doing it for his dad so that's cool" then at the end I was like "Y U NO MARTIN DANIELS!!!?!?!?!?"
whats up peeps, i dont like to post on other channels with things like this but if you are intereseted in magic then i sergest you take a look at the video's i have up i reveal magic and not just card magic but all magic. i am more then open to sergestions please take a look at the video."impossible card trick" if you liston the whole way thu you will get more info if you wish to just see one of my tricks jump to the end of the video thannk you.
@comicconfreak I'd say you're onto something there. If you look under the green sheet and watch the performer's cloak (especially on the lower right) 3:23-3:24 you can see the spin off
@tweetyiscool29 Yeah also in that time you can look to the bottom left and notice that he is bringing his right arm/cloak over to the left, but then it never came back to his right and all of a sudden a "new" right arm/cloak appears. Not sure if I explained that well enough lol. Any ideas on how the girl disappeared and what was under it the whole time?
@comicconfreak She probably went down into the bed/sofa thing. They *do* take an awfully long time organizing the green cloth.
I would also suggest a collapsible beam replaces her. At 3:02-3:03ish, you can see the dark haired assistant clearly has her hand pressed to something circular that wasn't there when the blonde was laying down. It also changes shape and gets increasingly flatter as it rises.
@mrtini12 it seems pretty made up trick being all prepared. The seats were darken surely a lot. A guy cannot get to the stage after all just like that especially an old man ;). It was just for the show and not real trick which dissappointed me a lot!
i agree with braintexts but @thedaveyboy999 ye they mite have but with the music playing and martin daniels on the stage doing magic people take no notice of whats happeneing around them
This was fantastic to watch on tv but the people in the audiance must have seen Paul Daniels get out of his seat and run and seen Martin Daniels come behind Penn And Teller.
@briantexts it seems pretty made up trick being all prepared. The seats were darken surely a lot. A guy cannot get to the stage after all just like that especially an old man ;). It was just for the show and not real trick which dissappointed me a lot!
@LucaTurilli89 actually the performer is introduced and then points out Paul. Martin is then on stage for a good 1 and a half minutes before Paul is needed to make the change. If you see Paul live he is very nimble on his feet and very fast. He also starts very close to the edge of the audience which can be told by the direction the P&T look when the stand to clap him.. This is very probably real and genuine.
@jackta101 what did you ean by real and genuine? He can't teleport. He simply go there very fast while the blond moved to the back behind the blackness. Something which Young and Strange did but with good background choreography which was the secret to their trick ;).
@LucaTurilli89 Obviously its not real in that sense! What a stupid suggestion. What I'm clearly explained is that it was a genuine live piece of choreography rather than set up by the show or planned with the audience. It was a real trick that they do in other places as well on this show.
@jackta101 I see nothing special in this trick. It is like The Prestige. You are simply distracting all the audience with factors like music, darkness, candles and such tircks designed to distract you and concentrate on the stage rather than having a complex understanding of how simply a trick can be.
I don't mind! I will have to skim through the avi's I have, but they just used him as the butt of a few comments (him being old school fluff and them being the new rock and roll).
