@elchafa If you look at the live performance (lip synched to this track) under Baby Please Dont go Mp4 you can see it appears as though the bassist is at th 7 & 9 fret area & the guitarist is definiately playing first position E chords and licks, though you hear F. the Romantics "What I like about you' has a older version in E & also a sped up more dancable whatever re-release in F as its easier to do that, then re-record, or for 'Them' the unlikely option they all tuned up a half step to F

That is his right, but it's his attitude that lots of people don't like. In The Last Waltz , Van who is normally not charismatic did a pretty good job on stage with Caravan . I think it was someone else. So if Van wanted to he could probably get his record companies to put some of his earlier great stuff here. He doesn't care about us.. hey being a big star has it's price and I understand Van's aloofness but still condemn it. He is not a bad guy, he could just be nicer.

I was lukcy enough to see Van several times in Dublin and Cork. He always givena fantastic performance. He's been great a interacting with the audience particularly when performign with Brian Kennedy,a fellwo Belfast man, he kept jokign with him and having the craic! So not always cranky!

@11xzxzxz Gotta speak up for one VERY cool thing about Van. I'm an impressionist and sing several Van Morrison covers. All that his people requested was a copyright notice and a link to his official website for info, which I thought was more than fair. There are other artists, like Don Henley for example, that will totally torpedo covers on Youtube in a very heavy handed, decidedly "unfriendly" way. So despite Mr. Morrison's aloofness or candor about his feelings and his music, he is cool.

Them was really good.. This is actually Them. I have no idea why so few videos. My unconfirmed suspicion is Van is just naturally a pretty bitter guy (Napoleonic complex perhaps?) and goes out of his way to piss people off. He probably doesn't give anything away free or he just wouldn't care what his fans think. He has written songs about his annoyance with fans who ask to much and he said he has explained it all ..BS I say. He never explains anything except that he doesn't want to explain.

Well I can't check right now to be certain but this sounds exactly like Them's version to me. Van Morrison was the leader of the band, and their only real claim to fame, and he probably taught the rest of the band the song, so I'm sure they didn't' have much to say if he took it for his greatest hits album.
