I thought the 1st Hellboy film was superior in plot and character development, I do think the monster designs are wonderfully brought to life in the 2nd movie, just a shame they relied on cheap gags instead of a serious storyline.

I see why you think so but in review of all series movies...the second movie is supposed to be a back up of the first to establish rules of the character....to make way for the thrid movie that will be the kick ass of all. Look at Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, and Jaws.....second movie sucked but when it came out it really did back up the first movie. I think Hellboy did that the same only with alot more action.

I thought this movie was good. Although, it wasn't as great then the first because I felt the story was super cliche. I mean, a villian making an army of robots to take over the world has been done before many times, but in different forms whether it's bats, mutated men or whatnot. I thought this movie was awesome, far surpasing the last one. Way better story (dont know that other guy is on about saying its cliche lol) and just a lot Bigger! I mean when the big green monster thing is grown and the road is being torn up! Bloody hell thats good! And the fight at the end, I didnt know Hellboy could move that fast being so stocky. Man I love this movie.

Auslander if the elf prince was a rip off of anything it would be Elric of Melnibone, long slender slightly effeminate albino like character. I wouldn't be suprised if WoWs elfs were "inspired" by that character in some way.

Luke Goss is rapidly becoming my favorite 'bad guy'. Nomak (Blade 2) was incredibly cool and Prince Nuada proves that the first outing wasn't a fluke. Goss has a fascinating voice and a way of moving that makes the supernatural strength and grace of his characters believable.

What is it with people who think the fantasy genre began with WoW. Check out a book once in a while I think you'll find a lot of world of warcraft creatures, as well as the creatures form other games, were taken, borrowed, stolen, modified, whatever your opinion on it is, from fantasy novels, and from legends/myth/folklore. The world didn't begin in the 20th century. It's really sad how much people really don't know.

I love the comic books and I can't wait for this movie. The director couldn't do as much with the first hellboy, because he was an unknown, but after he made pan's lab. he'll be able to make a much better movie.
