Pitch can improve when a vocalist learns proper breathing/breath support, and ear training; begin paying more attention to the music and less attention to themself.. if that makes sense LoL..

i think once you break the habit of singing a curtain way,as in too high pitch or too deep,then you can improve. maybe you can record yourself,sing how you prefer to sing, then sing how your instructor is teaching you to sing,and hopefully they can hear the difference.but like Jermaine said they might think their fine the way they are,its up to them to accept that maybe they are a little off pitch..
