  • My favorite rendition of "Moonglow"

Thank you for sharing with us. I "luv" the video of Doris Day too. Those scrolling flowers/vines are so "Doris". Thank you, thank you. :))

  • @BoudiccaBlanc It is a truely beautiful interpretation by Doris.... my favorite also.

I'm really happy you enjoyed the video too. Thank you for watching !!

  • Pure magic !!

  • @Solorider551 It sure is ...... so happy you enjoyed !!!

  • MY GRANDDAUGHTER'S NAME IS DANIKA AND MY DAUGHTER, HER MOTHER'S NAME IS DAYNA. I NAMED THEM BOTH. I'M 65 AND LIFE HAS FLOWN BY. DORIS'S MUSIC AND FILMS BROUGHT WHAT LITTLE HAPPINESS I KNEW AS A CHILD. MANY PERFORMERS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY BRING TO PEOPLES LIVES. I LIVED IN THAT DREAM WORLD TO ESCAPE REALITY.. MERRY CHRISTMAS. THAT'S WHAT MUSIC MEANS TO ME..

  • @333marian1 I think you're right.... they don't realize what it means to many people. Doris still receives huge amounts of mail. And she is amazed at how many peoples lives she's touched. Her music and films have brought many people through some hard times. Hope you have a Merry Christmas too !!

  • SHE IS THE PERFECT AMERICAN GIRL AND WAS A WONDERFUL PERSON AND STILL IS I TREASURE HER MUSIC AND HER FILMS . GREW UP WATCHING THEM...NEVER BE ANOTHER. ONE IN A ZILLION..TO ME..THAT WOULD BE MY FONDEST DREAM IS TO MEET HER..

  • @333marian1 Yes .... Have to agree ! I started listening to her music when I was 10 and she's my favorite ... and I'm quite a few years older than 10 !! Thank you ... agree with you .. Doris is the best !

  • love how she sings this song....your video, was put together really well, love how the music flows with the pics, and the added graphics.....very nice !

  • @margaret664 Thank you ... I love Doris' version of this great song ... so happy you enjoyed too !!

  • This was my first ever trumpet solo, 500 people, 500 smiles.

  • @ilyabezgoubv Well... you certainly picked a beautiful song for your first solo !

  • Theme du film "PICNIC" avec W. HOLDEN et KIM NOVAK. Que de souvenirs romantiques de ces romantiques années 50. Magnifique interprétation de D. DAY

  • @SuperCroquignol Happy you enjoyed !

  • Thanks Dayniac. I love Doris songs sings since long ago.

  • thanks for doris songs Dayniac. Can you upload her song "Take Me in Your Arms" please.

  • @carlos071852 Thats a good one ... I'll work on that. Happy you're enjoying her great music !!

  • She was such a great singer. Sooo many talents!!!

  • @cosmo2631 She is definitely a talented lady. And a caring - lovely human being. Thank goodnes she has devoted so many years to animal welfare. She's made a huge difference !

  • @Dayniac4324 I just saw a TV programme of her life story - I wish I hadn't. She was so exploited and mistreated by her third husband Melcher, who died and left her penniless. So many of these famous women, Debbie Reynols, Lady Day - and many others, had talent, but picked the wrong partner in life. It was such a shame she had to participate in those third rate films and sing so many silly songs. Wonderful how she sings Moonglow.

  • @cosmo2631 Still IS!!! I've heard one song from her new album, and she's still fantastic!

  • @cosmo2631 That she is ! Happy you enjoyed !!

  • Why everyone in the world didn't fall in love with this lady I'll never understand.

  • @jayseah32 I think an awful lot of people did ! And there are many that still are to this day !!

    She's quite a lady !!

  • I did like it very muc,,,anything she sings is just lovely

  • It must have been a drunken blur, I can't remember, but I think she was tall, dressed in black, with a Motel 6 room key, and a fresh bottle of Crown Royal...

  • @bullfrog11758 Great movie and yes .... great scene !!

  • I love her voice, so smooth!

  • @edwardconway27 She truely is one of the best ballad singers ever ! So happy you enjoyed !!

  • @Dayniac4324 I agree with you, even people said the greatest jazz singer is Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Julie London, and etc. But I do love Doris's voice and style! I just wondering, why I was born in 1989? *sigh

  • @edwardconway27 I'm wanting to get Will Friedwalds new book - A BIOGRAPHICAL GUIDE TO THE GREAT JAZZ AND POP SINGERS. He loves DD and I hear she has a whole chapter. Of course its a huge book so everyone probably gets their own ! Amyway - it sounds good. He said -“Surely no other great American artist ... was so willing to forgo cleverness for the sake of truth.”

  • Doris is one of those rare beauties that was even more lovely at 40+ than in her 20s. She also had a clean voice quality, probably not heard again until Karen Carpenter.

  • @Alan62651 Or 30+ ! She's definitely a lovely lady - inside and out. And yes... her voice and interpretation of a song were amazing. I think you're certainly right about Karen Carpenter - she doesn't get the credit due her... just as Doris doesn't. Happy you enjoyed !!

  • Doris Day's velvety-smooth voice

    makes you feel like

    you should be in

    a dimly-lit night club

    with a glass of brandy,

    and a beautiful woman

sitting atop a black baby grand.

    In joy!

    .

  • @Giavannanow So beautifully put .. yes .. she definitely has that sultry quality to her voice. She gives us a dreamy version of this beautiful song. So happy you enjoyed !

  • Absolutely beautiful - perfect in every way........

  • @MegaPffft She really gives us a beautiful version of this great song ... not doubt about it ! So happy you

    enjoyed !!

  • This song is not meant to be belted! It's perfect the way she does it!

  • @romcopper I think she gives us a beautiful interpretation ... no doubt. She really could sing a song intimately ... just to you. An amazing talent. So happy you enjoyed !

  • I love this song...the only problem is that it needs more soul. She needs to belt it. :D

  • @bubbles1x This was for her Day by Night album and has the feel of that album. I really love her understated approach here. But, it would be nice to hear her belt out a different version.... I bet she could do it. I do love this romantic version.

  • Just found this. FABULOUS!! Ms. Day really sings this well - her voice fits the songl. And Paul Weston! My favorite arranger! He is so good with the gently laidback kind of accompanment - mood music style. The jazz soloists he uses really add musical class.. The song of course is gorgeous, Doris Day's singing, And Paul Weston's orchestration is an unexpected bonus. Doesn't get much better than that. In a word, beautiful!

  • @robertm2000 This whole album is gorgeous ! She really has the perfect voice for this song. And her interpretation is wonderful ... as always. They really made a great concept album with this Day by Night lp and also Day by Day. Really happy you enjoyed !

  • love miss day...

  • @northbeachfilms Me too !! Guess you could tell that ... so happy you enjoyed !

  • My goodness! I forgot about her freckles! What a doll....

  • @strangersNparadise Yes... she has a lot of freckles ! She sure looks cute in them !!

    Happy you enjoyed !

  • A pure song. Nothing less. Nothing more. Read no more into it. Let it be.

  • @grafonolafavorite AGREE !

  • @grafonolafavorite GREAT!

  • @ireneluz2002 So happy you enjoyed !!

  • @grafonolafavorite , I agree with you completely. She was a once in a million years talent.

  • @lleader100 That she was ! Quite a lady !!

  • Doris had one of the purest voices of any singer known and anyone who disagrees with that statement knows very little about what constitutes a good vocal talent. Opinion and taste are one thing, talent like Doris Days' transcends mere opinion, including mine.

  • @chickenlampbrent Have to agree with you !! It certainly does transcend mere opinion ... and thank goodness she's beginning to receive some of the recognition she so richly deserves... not enough but some !

  • @Dayniac4324 She is wonderful I have always loved her ,even when I was a child I loved all her films she is pure magic.

  • @annetamlyn I'm with you there.... have always loved her movies and music.

You said it .. she is pure magic !! Thank you .. so happy you enjoyed !

  • @chickenlampbrent >"Doris had one of the purest voices of any singer known and anyone who disagrees with that statement knows very little about what constitutes a good vocal talent."

    Balderdash!

  • Well shucks, shes just freegin great. Nuff said.......

  • @goffbum Yes....yes she is !!

  • Actually and a great actress too, nearly forgot that one!

  • @moorethanart Definitely !!

  • I agree I'm a huge fan. I wonder if jealousy was the cause, seems to feature around multitalented people in this world? She could sing and dance beautifully and was also beautiful? Maybe too bitter a pill to swallow for some? :0)

  • @moorethanart I guess that could be it ... It seems she could do it all. Edie Adams said that people wanted to be her because she did everything so well...and made it look so easy....which it wasn't ! She's quite a lady !

  • I agree. One the best and most underated voices around. Deep beauty quality and sadness in her singing..............

  • @moorethanart She's really one of the best ballad singers ever. And sadly - very underated. She did finally receive a lifetime achievement grammy in 2008 and the Ella awards honored her this year. Nice to see her receive this recognition.

She's one of the best at interpreting a song ...no doubt about that !

Thank you ... really happy you enjoyed !

  • Absolutely Fabulous! Doris Day is the most underrated entertainer of all time. Yes, she is a treasure!

  • @82sac I definitely agree with you ... she is extremely underrated ! She and Shirley Temple are the only two females in the top ten boxoffice stars ... to this day ! And her music career is amazing. Why she remains underrated is a mystery to me !! Yes.. she is certainly a treasure .. and what adds to that for me is her tireless work for animal welfare after since leaving Hollywood far behind !

Thank you ... really happy you enjoyed !

  • Absolutely Fabulous! Doris Day is the most underrated entertainer of all time. Yes, what a treasure!

  • Hi Toni,

Just breathtaking! What a superb version. She sure has one of the most beautiful voices ever.Thank you for share!

    Hugs from Marcelo

  • @mmaced It really is a beautiful version by Doris. And I must agree with you .. she does have one of the most beautiful voices ever !!! Thank you .. really happy you enjoyed !! Take care... Toni

  • Thanks, Doris!

  • @nytwings Happy you enjoyed !!

  • Just a reminder, Ms. Day is still with us. She was and is a treasure.

  • @frankstelt She certainly is ! She's alive and going strong in Carmel ! I think she always will be a treasure... she seems to be very popular today .. and hopefully will always remain so.

  • @CarloQuinto I will check that out ... thanks !

  • What can I say.....? A joy to the ears..

  • @1962beachboy Have to agree with you ... I love this romantic interpretation by Doris ... one of the best. Thanks ... so happy you enjoyed !

  • amazing beautiful song. Who was the saxo player?

  • @taginaste33 I added the musicians in the notes above ... I've been trying to go back to do that but don't seem to have enough time for all the video's. I'll get them all done eventually. Thanks .. happy you enjoyed !

  • OOh my I just love this song, and her voice!!

  • romantic and beautiful orchestra

  • @cherylb2008 Yes... yes.... so romantic ! Happy you enjoyed !!

  • I'm very much in love with Doris all these years. This has always been my favorite song..always. No one has equaled her ever with this song. I'm 10 years younger.

  • @TheStevecov Have to agree with you... she does a wonderful interpretation.

Beautiful ... thanks .. so happy you enjoyed !!

  • She just has such a beautiful, clean, simple voice.......love it...:)

  • @tinebean21 Yes she did ... and her interpretation was the same. Simply as the song was written...thats what I love about her. Thanks... so happy you enjoyed !

  • Toni, I had to stop by and listen to my lovey birthday lady sing my favorite song!

  • @afantastic I'm happy you did ! I sure hope the birthday girl had a wonderful day.

Too bad they didn't stream the radio broadcast live. I did try to listen to the posted parts later. So far I've only heard one call from Doris....but she sounded marvelous !

Thank you ... hope you have a nice Easter !

  • Romantic, Romantic, Romantic..................

  • It sure is ... beautiful version by Doris.... happy you enjoyed .. Thank you !

  • That they were... great movie !

  • This song always reminds you of the movie"Picnic" as it should..but I think it was recorded years before..I know by Artie Shaw..maybe others...thanks for posting this awesome number..I always liked Doris Day as an Actress But EVEN MORE as a singer..why is ther now music like this any more???

  • Its a fantastic song ... and I love Doris' version. I'm with you .. I love her movies ...but its her music that touchs me every day. I'm with you ... miss this kind of music in today's world. Aren't we lucky we can find it here !!

Thanks ... so happy you enjoyed !

  • Oh my!! DORIS DAY has always been my Hollywood crush..I was born the year that this was released...the women singers of those days gone bye were amazing..Wonderful.. I'm transported to another world hearing this gem..turn down those lights.. light a couple of candles.. put this on the stereo and float on the clouds...

  • I was born 4 yrs earlier ... and have always loved Doris' music... why can't we have music like this today ??

Doris is a good crush to have ... many have revealed the same feeling.

    Thanks... happy you enjoyed !

  • I am just Swept Away... many have tried,

Doris does it best.... Thanks Toni, so glad

I found it!! Wonderful, ahh gorgeous, and

so is she, Best to you, Marcie xxx

  • Thanks Marcie ... I really love her version of this beautiful song. Hope you two are doing well ... and hope you're having a wonderful weekend... take care.... Toni

  • I absolutely love Doris Day. her voice gives me goosebumps!

  • @shanaynay7000 I have to agree with you ! I think she's one of the best ballad singers ever. Thanks - happy you enjoyed !!

  • One of the MOST romantc songs around. Thanks for posting; reminds me of those wonderful years of long ago....super! (*.*)

  • @schneppm It truely is so romantic .. and Doris is great with this type of song....really happy you enjoyed !!

  • It does take you back !!

  • I've heard this sung by someone else, not sure if it was Dean Martin or Bobby...or...someone else? But I do like her rendition.

  • @KrisMoretti She does a great interpretatioon ... happy you enjoyed !

  • If this isn't the definite version of this song, I'd like to hear what is. Doris interprets this very very, well indeed.

  • @followthefleet1 Have to agree with you once again ! She gets to the heart of a song - nothing fancy - sings it as it was written. Simple but true.

This is a great album - Day by Night. Wonderful collaboration with Paul Weston.

  • There are very song in the world that put you into a certain mood and touch your soul.

Doris day's Moon Glow is one of those songs, simply amazing,

  • I have to agree with you .. this is such a great song - written by Will Hudson - Eddie deLange and Irving Mills. And Doris does a wonderful interpretation of it. It is as you say .. simply amazing.

Thank you ... really happy you enjoyed !

  • Doris, performance of this song is still

    " super "!!!

  • Have to agree with you ... love this song !

Thank you.. really happy you enjoyed it too.

    Merry Christmas !

  • I am in complete agreement with the ten comments made below, particularly grumble's and all of Dayniac's. This is a great marriage of a beautiful song and a top singer. I love Doris Day.

  • This is such a lovely song -- and have to agree everything just meshes. Perfect combination. I guess you can tell I love Doris too !! Thanks ... really happy you enjoyed !

  • Day and the saxes are wonderfully laid back. And in tune. What a nice track.

  • @grumble2009 This is one of my favorite songs from Doris. I think she does a terrific version of this great song. Happy you enjoyed !!

  • sostare nell'ascolto di una melodia celestiale, interpretata dalla voce armoniosa di Doris Day, è sublime , grazie Toni...francesco.-

  • Thank you .. really happy you enjoyed !!

  • I love the tempo in this one. Some of the other versions are too quick, for my taste. Doris savors the lyrics, like a glass of fine wine. A true 5-star performance!

  • She definitely prefered a slower tempo. I'm with you - I like this tempo -- and you are so right .. she savors the lyrics. Great version in my opinion. Thank you .. really happy you enjoyed !

  • Thank God for youtube and all the superb music it brings to the world.

  • Have to agree --- it's so much fun to think of a song and then find it here !!

  • Dayniac4324.

A lot of what I come across on you tube is by accident.

I put in for one thing, watch and listen to that, notice something down the right hand list and try that. Mostly to my satisfaction and delight.

Once again I heartily thank YouTube.

  • That is fun .. even when I put in something all the related video's get my interest ... there are so many great songs here. I'm with you on that. I just wish there weren't so many songs banned on yt. I had a lot of Eagles video's that meant a lot to me that were removed. I think it just makes more people interested in someone's music and might make them go out and buy it ...they might actually make more money from having it here.... oh well !

  • I loved the Doris Day movie..Love come back.--but I loved the part where Tony Randall ordered Joe Flynn to commit suicide..funny stuff...Don't get me wrong, Pillow talk was great but there was just something about Lover come back--she is such a great singer!!

  • Well -- Lover Come Back is my favorite from Doris, Rock and Tony. It has such a great script ... so funny ! I love the scene in the coffe shop after she first meets him and he's pretending to be the scientist. He says something about -- knock and i shall take you in. She says Dr. I'm knocking -- he says Miss Templeton I'm taking you in..... hahaha !! And in the apartment - if only he was Jerry Webster he'd get he in the bedroom in 2 minutes...and he does ! Funny !!

  • You're welcome! Someone earlier mentioned the soundtrack album from the movie Picnic. The musicians who played in the movie are the same guys who played on many Paul Weston albums - they are: Stan Wrightsman-piano, George Van Epps-guitar, Nick Fatool-drums and Morty Corb-bass. One of the BEST instrumental versions of Moonglow/Picnic is by the Clebanoff strings. It really captures that 50's "instrumental" sound! Doris Day is still one of the best!

  • That was Ted Nash on alto sax at the opening. Matty only soloed on clarinet and Babe Russin only played tenor sax. It sounds like a Paul Weston arrangement. Freddy Stule is playing lead alto in the sax section in the middle - then Ted Nash plays more solo background notes.

  • Thank you !!!

  • Thank you !! I think Paul Weston did her Day by Day and Day by Night albums.

  • Sorry, I had forgotten Kim Novak didn't sing did she? But the impact of their (William Holden) dance to Moonglow was amazing!

  • No Kim didn't sing --- but you are is right - that scene is tremendous !

  • She does a nice job with this song, but the original version is the very best - the original version in the movie 'Picnic'. Doris Day can't compete with Kim Novak - this time anyway.

  • stellar performance from the big d! thank you!

  • I like that .. the big D !! It is another beautiful one from Doris. Thank you -- happy you enjoyed !!

  • Doris Day is a great lady indeed! A+++++ Doris Day, I will all ways love you for as long as I live! Doris Day was the wife that I never had! I don't know if I will ever find another woman just like Doris Day! Doris Day has it all! A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  • Doris day was a great lady indeed! A+++ Doris Day was the wife that I never had! Poor me! Doris Day, I will all ways love you! Thank you Dayniac for posting all of your Doris Day videos! A++++ It is very hard to find women like Doris Day!!! If you find one just let me know ASAP!

  • Doris Day is a great actress but I always loved her singing best!! I remember the great ballad she sang in "pillow talk"--when they were driving-THIS song is awesome!!

  • I have to agree with you. She really has an amazing voice. I do listen to her every day and never tire of her voice. Thanks -- so happy you enjoyed !!

  • Doris Day is so beautiful indeed! A+++ Doris Day's music is Magnificent indeed! A++++ It is very difficult to find women like Doris Day!

  • Anybody knows who is the saxophonist???

  • I don't - wish I did !

  • sounds like coleman hawkins to me

  • I did look this up in the Bear Family set - these are the sax players listed - doesn't indicate who is the soloist.

Leonard Hartman - Julian C. "Matty" Matlock - Thedore M. Nash - Babe Russin - Fred Stulce.

    Hope that helps.

  • loooove Doris Day

  • Me Too !!!!!! - happy you enjoyed !!

  • Good to know that there are people like Dayniac and Joseegipto who enjoy the sound of divas like Doris.

  • And you ! Doris is my favorite vocalist - guess you could tell that.

  • Adoro todas as músicas cantadas por ela. Essa em especial!

  • Happy you enjoyed - Thanks !!

  • Com toda a tecnologia que temos hoje é difícil achar uma gravação como esta! Obrigado por resgatar estas jóias.

  • Renats 29...I couldnt agree with you more. You're absolutely right on. Doris Day achieved the super star status because of her "packaged " show biz persona !! The songs ( and then some) you mentioned, were excellently rendered touching the listener's heart. The best!!!

were excellently rendered touching the heart.

  • I think you are so right. She definitely sings directly to the listeners heart.

She has such a personal - intimate style.

The Day by Night album illustrates it perfectly.

    Thank you !!

  • "Day by Night" is such an album. She definitely shows how much she respects every single love song. But there are three tunes I´m really fond of,and she sang them so tenderly:The Night we Called It A Day,Close Your Eyes and Moon Song.Paul Weston arrangements are also spetacular!

  • Oh yes - it really is a great album..one of my favorites. I love all those songs and The Lamp Is Low - Stars Fell On Alabama and Under A Blanket of Blue.

I just did a video of Moon Song - going to upload it in a few minutes.

Thank you -- so happy you enoyed !!

  • What a gal!

Interesting recording: she's right up to the mic and you can hear everything. Makes it very intimate.

  • Ain't she though ! She really is amazing !

I love it when she sings this way - you are so right - very intimate - singing just to you.

Thank you - so happy you enjoyed !!

  • Sounds like Doris was listening to Billie Holiday...

  • Hmmm - don't know about that --- I think Doris is Doris. She recorded over 600 songs - I really don't think she was mimicking anyone.

  • Do NOT stop making these great DD videos with the pretty bursts of coloful flowers. They're just a delight. I listen to these posts of yours and they're just such a feel-good music. Others record these same songs and they're great too, but there's something about the way Doris sings them. I sound so sappy now.
