There have been several bluegrass supergroups since, but I don't think any have come close to the talent assembled in the JMB, they were simply outstanding.

my pops dragged me around to bluegrass festivals when i was a kid -- very very boring, but I got to see the johnson mt boys and that made it all worth it... love these guys

I have had the album for about 3 years i was about 12 years old when this took place.Never in my dreams did i think i would actually get to see these same tracks performed in the same order at the same place were it was recorded if not the best one of the best bluegrass performances in the 80's.

Buy the Johnson Mountain Boys' live album, "At the Old Schoolhouse". It won an IBMA award in 1990 and is the greatest live bluegrass recording EVER.

nobody can do a coal mining song like dudley connell, he puts so much feeling into. he must have worked inby before his singing career. dream of a miners child, as we hear on this video and blue diamond mine has so much feeling when he sings it. BEST I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!
