  • @ WildwoodvalleyBoy: lol Yes I agree. The band that I'm no longer part of is a HUGE reminder of that. But they never learned that. Gallagher Blaylock & Flatline. LMAO

  • Some songs can be TOO fast! This one fits that category. Less is more!!!

  • Can I purchase LEGAL dvd copy of this concert? Any info would be most welcome!

No one can deny JMB was the best!

  • Excellent! 5 Stars! Thanks for posting and sharing this classic.

  • INCREDIBLE!! thats all i can say!!

  • dsdeutsch, thanks so much for posting these. It is great to watch the boys at work, and funny to see Dudley with no 'stache.

There have been several bluegrass supergroups since, but I don't think any have come close to the talent assembled in the JMB, they were simply outstanding.

  • I have heard arguements that this is the fastest Bluegrass track or version ever! I think i would have to agree now! I had heard this song nay a time but never like this! AWESOME! Now to be able to see it played! Wow!

  • Golly Miss Molly. These guys are good. This is like The Out Of Town Boys videos. Both great bands.

  • my pops dragged me around to bluegrass festivals when i was a kid -- very very boring, but I got to see the johnson mt boys and that made it all worth it... love these guys

  • Dude!!! I'm stunned to see this! THANKS!!!

  • I have had the album for about 3 years i was about 12 years old when this took place.Never in my dreams did i think i would actually get to see these same tracks performed in the same order at the same place were it was recorded if not the best one of the best bluegrass performances in the 80's.

  • Yes, sclawman. This is the concert from which that album was made.

  • Thanks, dsdeutsch. I was thinking that was maybe the case. Thanks for the clarification and even more so for posting this awesome footage.

  • Buy the Johnson Mountain Boys' live album, "At the Old Schoolhouse". It won an IBMA award in 1990 and is the greatest live bluegrass recording EVER.

  • gee whiz that was good

  • Dream of a miners child will bring a tear to a glass eye.

  • I was there this is great!

  • JMB: listen and learn

  • They are one of the best bluegrass bands ever!

  • nobody can do a coal mining song like dudley connell, he puts so much feeling into. he must have worked inby before his singing career. dream of a miners child, as we hear on this video and blue diamond mine has so much feeling when he sings it. BEST I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!
