  • in the UK our NHS uses about 9% of the GDP in Americas Private Health care system the government spends 16% of its GDP. Why the big difference? shouldn't it be the other way around?

  • the big difference is paying for people to say, "yeah, you're going to die"

I wish Canada's healthcare was more like the NHS, you have a much better healthcare system than we do.

  • when the president comes back we will have the public option i believe it was planned this way i have no doubt and thank goodness finally all american will have access to health care

  • Calum Davenport

  • Add an amendment which allows the opposition to loose their health insurance, go bankrupt, or die if they want to, problem solved.

  • Glad to hear some sanity in this video.

  • inject yo mom you neocon

  • On Nobhill everyone has healthcare. In Scumville most people can't afford it. A virus breaks out that is stopped if in good health but most of Scumville are not due to lack of Healthcare. Thus the virus gains a foothold and more people on Nobhill catch it . Even right-wingers can see that paying a little tax to stop you catching preventable diseases is worth it, even if you wouldn't do it for a fellow American.

  • Based on the rant you sent me in private I cannot disagree with you more. The govennment is involved in our daily lives because because of you. Your discourse confused social policy with Stalinism. Have you read the bill on the table? It is center-right legislature if ever there was some. From then on I would appriciate if you keep your comments public - let others see why you oppose and the bill is sure to pass.

  • Pardon my bad typing/grammar; long day at work. One final point you had PM'ed to address:

"I understand that there are others out there without healthcare coverage and many more are losing jobs by the day or week. For that I wish I had the answer. I am sure there are things that can be done within our current laws and legislation and make some things available to the poor and under-insured."

Why not work on another solution rather than rubbish what is on the table? Show us the other way.

  • ah you are mexican.... then you already have healcare.... cause that is where the h1n1 broke out

  • H1N1 is a man made disease.

Yes I have healthcare it is from the VA.

  • Yes, President Obama is just like George Bush and that's why Fox News and the Republican Party have attacked him relentlessly. Yes, President Obama took so much money from big business and that's why CNBC and FOX business and special interests have been attacking him. That's why he's going after thousands of wealthy tax evaders at UBS. That's why he's going to raise taxes on the wealthiest American(slightly) and slightly raise capital gains tax. Health insurance companies said he demonized them.

  • Exactly! Well said broski.

  • let us as i still believe a great nation hope that the democrats stick to the guns and get this bill thru in a form where it will do americans who are going bankrupt and dying for insurance companies running roughshod some good a measure of a great nation is in how you treat the poor elderly and less fortunate of our society and before you even say it no right wingers i am not saying giving a free ride to the lazy and unmotivated

  • Yep, let's completely ignore 47 million uninsured Americans and the total bias of the right wing media, which also lies continuously.

Keep drinking the kool-aid and pretending you're thinking for yourself.

  • Well if he doesn't get this through then it just proves that we no longer have democracy because no one is representing us. I think the public option will pass but I get nervous when the Dems are being so inconsistent.

  • With so much misinformation and idiocy going around, it's amazing it's gotten this far. If the public options passes, it'll be just like post-Y2K around here, all the idiots claiming the world was going to end will have to face reality.

  • Haha yeah and w/ all the media hype that the public option is dead etc. It will basically make everyone look pretty stupid.

  • Thank God this organization is stepping up and saying we do need the public option, with out it, you may as well starting turning everything you have of value over to your health insurance co. Because with the provisions that will surely pass, no pre-existing conditions, no dropping you because your sick, the insurance co would make you pay out the ass if the public option isn't there as a check.

  • "House virgin"? Kinky slip there, Ms. Mitchell. ;D

  • She (Anna Burger) should have been pre-questioned (not REHEARSED) by the interviewer (Andrea Mitchell), so she wouldn't come across as a nervous speaker, or as a fasttalker. On the other hand, her personal presentation makes calling SEIU folks "thugs" ridiculous.

  • It is about time, I was beginning to think that the insurance co. and drug companies etc really owned this country to the point that none of us can be heard. I know that it is really going to hurt them to quit stealing from us but it is about time our tax dollars get spent here in america instead giving healthcare to Iraq and Iran and India and everyone but us.

  • If anything, the P.O. will actually help drug companies (and they should be supporting it). More insured people means higher sales.

The only group that will suffer from this is insurance.

  • I wish.

  • No idiot.

    Single payer = Single payer.

You're not nearly that lucky enough to get a single payer.

Public Option = Insurance plan you have to pay a premium for like other insurance plans, except it's cheaper, and more efficient.

  • Fail. Government-run healthcare, the public option, and single-payer are three separate but related ideas. Look it up.

  • tell that to Fox News and over 50% of Americans... I think the recent polls in opposition of healthcare reform don't know how to read. It's called a "public option" for a reason. This is just like the debate over the "employee FREE-CHOICE act" people didn't seem to understand that either.

  • no... your confused.

Public Option=options for citizens with private healthcare at low govt premium.

    Single Payer=Single payer!

  • No.

  • The Dems have huge majorities in the House and senate. There is no excuse for not having a public option in the bill. the people opposing public option will never support any reform offered by the Dems. So to hell with them.

  • "We've seen happens when you don't have it."
