  • Interestingly, Dudamel's interpretation here reminds me of Sir John Barbirolli's: fluid in legato, a little held back in brass and percussion — until the end, of course, where, surprise again, there is a sweetness and dignity. Most intriguing and enjoyable, Dudamel has all the makings of a unique and remarkable Sibelian.

  • Bravo! I love Dudamel and he certainly is one of the greatest. However, there is a lot of Mahler in this Sibelius, which is great. The new way of looking at this miraculous music. I am confident in a few years Gustavo will discover Sibelius in a more mature voice and that would be even more beautiful... I hope to live to see that day. Bravo Gustavo! Just stay humble and Authentic!
