It takes a long time before you can make $7 an album. Because when you first start off you actually owe thr record lable money. You don't get paid until they get paid. Most of the time yu have to pay back the advance.
But you see the labels haven't been focused on music for a minute. That's why cd prices go up sales go down and the artist won't get shit. Ask anybody in the music industry.
All a major deal is for the artist is to to make u famous to make money off shows. For the label is record sales. Independent is about money less fame

I heard a stat saying a artist who sells about 500,000 albums only makes about $30,000 off of records. The rest of the money comes from concerts.
