Dear friends, After looking/listening to 10 renditions of Psalms 23 I "stumbled" upon this version. Being a born Israeli, with Hebrew as my mother tongue... I can state with complete certainty, that this "Translation" is the most ACCURATE rendition of the Written text. I can only compliment Sir Richard on singing the "Proper Words", at least!!! ;) The tune is not for me to comment on, since it's pleasant enough... -And Psalms ARE meant to be sung. :) (May) God bless Us All!!
Well sung, but it is wrong to title this the 23rd Psalm. Title it anything else. Alter-is is the death of any Document. And all you fools who think altering the Bible is ok, will get lost. The original 23rd is beautifully written as is. It is utter arrogance to alter it.
@zzen5 How? Explain how? Because if this song is so perfect (I'm not saying it is) then why are the sad pictures in? Just leave me alone. Because do you know what "comments" mean? That means your opinion! And if I'm correct I spoke mine.I'm happy everyone has a religion but going around starting arguements with people that don't is just gonna hurt YOU not them. Because you've already shown you have thin skin by starting an arguement becasue your upset with what I say
@NYAmericangirlx I believe these photos remind us of the evil in this world. How we still need to fight the good fight, to eliminate evil from our world. Fortunately there is so much good in this world that it inspires me to make the world a better place for everyone. Thank you God for giving us everything we need! Amen!
@SueBSydneyAu Please just leave me alone. I commented to months ago. If I keep on getting comments about this I'm reporting you. Becasue you can't bully me into beleiving ANYTHING religious or not. FORGET IT!!!
The writer of this song, Ralph Carmichael, the name seems familiar - I think he wrote 'He's Everything To Me,' which I was researching a few months ago, as I heard it in a 50's film I think, [The Restless Ones].
If this is what we do to scripture we better rely on the jews - good old cliff "has everything he needs" - God said do not alter His word at all didn't He - so is this another money making scam i think so.
@WGIP...I much prefer the traditional hymns & am blessed to attend a church with a 30-pc. orchestra that will put a Psalm to Mendlessohn, & it is simply divine - what I expect to hear after the trumpets blare my arrival home. That being said, the scripture said, "Sing Psalms, Hymns, & SPRITUAL SONGS, singing & making melody with your heart to the Lord..." What about The Gettys, or an old Negro Spiritual, both of which are doctrinally sound & quite lovely?
the Psalms are for the world... not just the Jews! the Jews as we know were to be a lighthouse to the rest of the world to reveal God and share Him with others. Praise God He now uses all His believers and followers to do this!
Cliff Richard did this song back in the 70s in a documentary "His Land" retelling the story of Jesus and his grace to us. this is part of Cliff's non commercial music to preach the "good news" of Christ which he has been doing until today. The music may originally be Jewish but in this context, Cliff is presenting it in Christian version. I saw the documentary three times and it was indeed presented in evangelical christian form.
i love this song=] i sang it fer a vocal contest and got a 1+ not an easy song four a 5th grader... expecially when your just starting to sing and you just discover you have an amazing voice! i sang it also at my grandmothers funeral cause she had asked me to at one time... song means alot to me=]
@rocdeb This 23rd Psalm is the best known Psalm of all for thousands of years it has been a refreshing stream from which tired & weary pilgrims have quench their thirst, It is a source of relief 4 those who are burden, encouragement 4 those who are downtrodden, strength for those who are weak, direction for those who are lost & rest for those who are weary. You see this is a Psalm that speaks to every need no matter who you are and no matter what you are going through this Psalm is for you!

I agree, what a foolish reply. What does this have to do with the 23rd Psalm? As for what Cliff 'El Diablo' Richard got paid for this, probably far too much. Total waste of time
His voice is nice - but why has he changed all thew words to this Pslam. The orignal words carry so much more depths. Even the fisrt line I ahve everything that I need...is different from I shall not want! He keeps on giving life to me is very different from He restoreth my soul....it is sad that people chnage the words of God. The dpeth is totally lost. Anyway - God bless everyone...His mercies are renewed every morning.
I have a videotape somewhere, where he sings this psalm. Ít's a documentary from Tear Fund, as I recall. Maybe someone can put it on Youtube, I can't, I'm afraid. It's beautiful. There are serveral versions of the 23th psalm. At our church (evangelical) we have I believe 3 versions.

An absolutely beautiful Psalm, sung by one of God's gift's to the earth!
Thank you so much for posting this clip, cogs999.
It's interesting okcomputer1016, that non-believers are attracted to watching these Christian songs.
I give thanks everyday to the Lord, for his love and his mercy. How blessed am I to have him walking by my side. The Best friend ever!
