@rcelty The 320M uses shared RAM borrowed from system memory, and thus its performance is not suited for 3D games much. The dual video chips in the higher end MacBook Pros can deliver at least 2x performance, but your laptop is still capable of playing Scrabble, Monopoly and other great titles that are popular with young people (in the 1950's).

Valve announced not too long ago that they are making Steam, FOR MAC! They're porting L4D, L4D2, Team Fortress 2, the Half-Life series, and the Portal series to Mac. Estimated release date is sometime this April.

maybe you need to dl better drivers from laptopvideo2go.

You should look at the video cards in question (the 9400M and the 9600M GT) and google their performance. The 9400M is integrated and has inferior performance. it's still pretty good though, you could definitely run L4D on medium settings for like 40+ fps. just make sure you run through bootcamp and not parallels.

I Don't think that your Macbook will be able to run L4d because the Macbook only comes with the 9400M GPU. Maybe if you put all the settings to low/med and a low res will work.

I have the late 2008 MBP too, but with 2gbram, 256GPU, and 2.4gHz... I have the res on MAX, and all graphics on highest settings. The game runs PERFECT! ULTRA SMOOTH! Your MBP is slightly better, I dont know why you are not maxing out those settings.... o and doesn't become choppy during action....

When you use bootcamp, do you downloads games and play them, or do you buy the game and insert the disc, and then play the game?

Run windows and then download on IE8 or Safari inOSX. Switch back to Safari, in OSX, then run the program and then switch back again. Open it in Safari first and then run bootcamp again. Make sure you close Safari and run it through bootcamp with xp etc running. It's always best to close unwanted programs to maximize your RAM. BE WARNED, get it wrong and it could be a living hell to fix.

Otherwise just use the disc.

No! That's all the new pod phone will have. Think about it a phone trying to run a computer, it wont wotk. You need at least 2 GB on a modern computer.Apple make 4 GB seperately now, so put as many of them in you can fit too. Basicley more is best and mucu more is even better than that.

There's no point having graphics if you haven't got ram. What planet have you been on! The fact is all graphics can look better depending on your computer, there are usually software downloads to increase ram space, using them frees up space- every bit helps to play faster games better. Dont knock, ram!

Low frame rate runs best on a slow computer and high frame rate runs best on a fast computer. Its that easy. Your computer will have a rating of 1-20 To calculate yours Ghz x GB so 2.5 x 4= 10 = medium setting works best etc 20 is best.

Yes. Apple's new OS (snow leopards, not snow lions) is coming out soon (my guess is it's a few weeks away from being launched- probably when the new iphone comes out) which will offer more support for 64bit programming and iphone like interfaces. It may not be a free upgrade, but I'm betting it will be.

Have you tried lowering the details but keeping the resolution to native? How good will it run? I feel the game might look better with lower details/native res then lower res/high settings.

A simple but very effective tip is to sit further back from the screen. Dots (resolution) become much better and you can lower detail because you wont notice it. Pending how far your arms will stretch, I'm tall so quite far, you'll be able to play any game without upgrading your components. For the really intrepid use a mirror and sit with your back to the screen, inverse controls helps sometimes to get used to. Reading is backwards, but i play war games so not a problem.

I quit isafar and itunes before shotting begins and open them when its quiet again, it just works and no lag. Never run windows on apples computer unless your hardware is up to date and modern or it'll slow down apples os to a horrible crawl. You should be ok when 7 core i7 (the i version is apples not windows) hits store shelves, make sure you install it first.
