@freshmylan , my knocking was a sticky lifter.....I just continued to drive it and it stopped the knocking after about 2-3weeks. As far as my low oil pressure reading....I got a new oil filter/oil pan pick-up screen put on and I'm using a thicker oil(10w-30) and now it not hitting so low that the low oil light is coming on anymore but it is still alil jumpy. But those gauges are crazy anyway. Lol
@AustinBWaters It was a joke, you know how whenever there is a car that is killed or dies, that you ALWAYS got those people that say you should of bought "this" product. Just funny because they all have issues of some sort.
@jsnewyorker89 great idea if you want to go back and forth from replacing engine to transmission lol jk ford heads give a little shit us gm guys gotta give it back lol
Clearly his oil sending unit is bad, That ticking sound has nothing to do with the oil. It is a warn out timing chain with alot of slack and is slapping on the timing chain guide. Fairly easy fix. Been through this myself and once I replaced the old timing set this sound went away.
dude either ur oil pump was bad and u where dry humping the mottor like a mother fucker see it said u had low oil but ur gage was over maxed this says bad oil pressure sending unit...... would have been a 15 dollar fix it u didnt fuck any thing up running it with out oil pressure
well if you were a real smart, you woulda read in the title that says that i had bought it this way. Oh you think im dumb for buyin it this way? lets be a little smarted and read the comments first...IVE SINCE THEN SWITCHED ENGINES. thank you have a nice day.
I see people are still having some problems with this sound as I have got an email on it. If you start to experience this sound, the best bet is to start with changing the timing set as the timing chain is starting to slap on the guide in between the chain. I swapped out my timing set and left the guide out and never heard this sound again. A little bit of proof that its happening, the top and bottom of the guide might be chewed up abit.
Timing chain is slapping the guide. This sound has nothing to do with the oil, I have the same problem and have done regular oil changes with the appropriate weight oil (40 to 50 weight). We have discovered damage to the timing chain guides due the chain being old and stretched. We had the exact same sound and have traced it to the timing chain and guides.
its not the oil. im pretty sure i changed the ol right b4 i did this......but anyway the motor has been swapped out since so its not a problem anymore.
When the oil gets sticky, the valves/Rods start to make that noise. This is usually when water gets mixed up with your oil.
Check your oil tank cap, see if there is any creamy looking oil stuck underneath it.
If yes, then you may have a bad intake manifold gasket, or it could be the head gasket. My 3.4 Impala had the same problem and although it's a totally different engine, it is just as notorious to the problem as your 3.4
That would solve the ticking noise, but I'm afraid it can't do much about the head gasket or the intake manifold gasket which cause the noise in the first place.
Just make sure that's not your problem and you're good.
maybe its ur oil pressure lol

is it healthy to leave the timing chain off? idk if i would leave it off, gotta be a reason for it.

dude change your oil and filter for once, i mean look at your oil pressure gage and you can tell its whack, it dont even read right
i have this same car and it sounds like that when it has low oil or the oil is already bad

My 94 camaro is doing the same thing. Im being told its possibly a rocker arm needing adjustment or a lifter problem.
