It's not only the athletic ability it's his Charisma that everybody was so drawn to, the good looks the big smile. he was one of the racial uniters in fact he was really the first Black Athlete to appear in a commercial he was barely even in the league when he did a 1970 chevy nova commercial, Of course he did the Hertz commercails and he was also famous for doing Orange Juice Commercails, they dont call him the juice for nothing.
Murder - not guilty. Unlawful killing - guilty. Football legend - guilty. Talented sportscaster who can speak clearly and avoid stuttering - not guilty.
OJ screwed up his domestic life,true..but none of u haters, weather the hate is coming from racisim, the murders that oj did not commit(found not guity)or the vegas incident..no matter how you talk down on oj's personal life,he was the best running back to ever play the game..u can't touch that, all the hating in the world cant change that history..
Funny, I was part of that "cheesy" halftime show put on by the U.S. Air Force. It was actually pretty good, especially the part with the guy taking off with the jetpack. lol
Right now Miami has lost it's killer instinct Al. The Dolphins need to show the niners who is in charge, perhaps they could kick in the door to their locker room and begin screaming obscenities at them. After that punch em' in the face and tell the refs you were only wrestling. Should be a good second half. I'll kill you all.
Al Micheals who still a 'young rising star' (still fresh of his histroic call of the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team)at ABC then as he was also the station's lead MLB baseball announcer then.
At this super bowl he was the pregame host/anchor along with 'co host' OJ Simpson and 'guest anaylst then Cowboys Coach Landry.
Frank Gifford did play-play and his partners was Joe Theisman and i think Don Meredith. This is first super bowl i remember very well.
Theisman never was a play-by play annnouncer. He was always an 'color' analyst and this telecast(the 49ers-Fish Super Bowl) was his debut as a TV analyst. ABC had just fired the lendegary Commenator Howard Cosell prior to the '84 NFL season.
Theisman was still a QB with the Redskins but his playing carrer ended the following season in 1985-86 season when he was badly injured in play by Lawerence Taylor. Theisman then began a 20-year carrer w/ ESPN before being let go coupleof years ago.
Technically, Howard Cosell resigned from "MNF" over the the Alvin Garrett/"Little Monkey" controversy a year earlier. The crew for the '84 season was Frank Gifford, Don Meredith (his last on "MNF") and O.J. Simpson. I think that the Juice wasn't getting a whole lot of rave reviews that year so Joe Theismann (the 1st active player since Jack Kemp at SBII to help call a network TV broadcast for the Super Bowl) was in the ABC booth instead.
I guess you're joking but if not I'll letcha know that the venue for the Super Bowl is determined before the season and usually at least two years before the actual game.
ABC owned the Super Bowl for every four years from 1985 until their TV contract was expired during Super Bowl XL almost two years ago. Now Al Michaels is alongside John Madden on NBC's Sunday night Football.
That was the second time the Dolphins got screwed over a fumble that wasn't called. In the waning moments of Super Bowl XVII, Redskins ahead 20-17, Riggins lost the ball near the Dolphins goal line, and it was picked up by the Dolphins. The play was blown dead, which is good for the Redskins, since he had a clear path about 90 yards the other way.
Nice fro, Al.

LOL@O.J! I have a lot of old Super Bowls, I don't have this one yet, but on a lot of the older ones it has OJ doing Hertz commercials.
Everyone loved O.J back in the day.
Nice Fro by Al Michaels that day LOL!
Really sucks, this was Marino's only Super Bowl appearance and he had no dam defense. I wish Marino could've got, at least, one ring

I didn't understand a word OJ said.
Bry101 4 years ago
Bry agreed. OJ was probably the worst commentaor/anylyst in NFL TV history.
Not saying this because of the events that occured later in his life, but being able to explain things on live tv.
OJ was a much better actor than a sports commentator. Too bad he a disgraced star.
