Btw - Why did the US release have to include that horrid "Sonic Boom" theme..? The EU/JAP versions theme has caught the Sonic-feel perfectly, I really feel that the US version tries to bend around it commercially, instead of just letting the music AND game itself do the stuff - I bought the re-release of Sonic CD on the Gems Collection back in the day and was sad to see the supposedly more popular US theme-song playing. Sorry, but I disapprove that theme.

The early version theme of Sonic Spinball I've never heard before, but it's far superior - in my opinion - to the happy-go-lucky showtune they put in the final product. I've been a fan of Sonic from the beginning, no doubt - but the last many games have been toe-cringing and a downright horror to play..! Example: Sonic Heroes had a good idea, but cluncky movement of the characters plus faulty camera-position in certain areas made it a chore rather than an exciting adventure..

This is like respect & love to the very large "funk" music - stage out there, very popular, almost total monopoly in hip hop - >dance< - events in Stockholm, Sweden, and also other countries, it resembles 70's disco funk - era in music history, but is actually much worse than that, being slow, totally mega-unrythmical/ un-musical / lacking harmony in a musical sense, although mega - harmonic in the very dignified Hip Hop - kinda of a way ... But this funk - inspired music is like 100X better ;-D

It was pretty much the original concept for Knuckles' Chaotix, Sonic and Tails would be joined together by the same rings used in Knuckles' Chaotix, working together. Instead they scrapped it and decided to give Knuckles a chance at his own game because he was really popular after his debut in Sonic (3) & Knuckles. You can probably see some gameplay of it here, but it's pretty much inferior to Knuckles' Chaotix because it's obviously incomplete.
