Rendering did not take that long; I had OSA turned off, and the edge setting helped to hide that a little. Also, I rendered at 640 by 480 and shrunk the frames with quicktime when I compiled the movie. Helped hide jagged edges. It was "built for speed."
Beautiful - The toon shading was done quite well, in a way that it is obvious but also not cartoony. I actually don't see many people use toon shading in Blender.
I'm making a documentary film and this is exactly the type of fun stuff that could really get my idea across to the audience. I'm a pretty intelligent, guy, using this for 1 hour per day how long could a beginner produce this?
Those were sorta stylized Norfolk Southern SD-70s or something. The smoke was done with several timed particle generators, and is my favorite moment of the animation. The freighter had to go fast because I was running out of song :-) Thanks for the comments!
You set a position and press the I key to lock it there, then use arrow keys (up=+10 frames, down=-10frames, left=+1 frame, right=-1 frame} to go to the next key frame (frame where you set the position. Computer calculates frames in between.), move the object, and then press I again.
I Fucking hate this music

Like it! How did you do the rolling-road part with the truck and the trees flying by on each side?
dingolovethrob 4 years ago
I am guessing that he did a cylinder with a road in the middle and trees by the side. I am not sure though, correct me If I am wrong.

The toon shader is a nice touch. Without sharp edges you can get away with a lower detail, illustration-like look. Great job.

Nice job! The pan across the front of the semi as it came over the hill was nice, and I especially liked the pan as it passed by.

I don't know if the simplicity was a stylistic choice or well-disguised inexperience, but either way, it was well-done. Good job.

Cool smoke on the engines as the consist started up. Thought they were F units at first, but no. Had a bad angle on them. Don't know the type.
That freighter was really boogyin' at the end, wasn't it?
