  • dissolve the baking soda and also add salt and make sure the silver is touching the foil and it should work a lot better

  • this definitely works u just tried it mines been gathering tarnish for over six years so is gonna take a while... thank you for this video

  • how about with sterling silver that has diamonds on it???

  • @iJEDAlinux should be fine, remember that it is close to impossible to damage a diamond at home

  • UPDATE: Since posting this video two years ago I have found that Borax powder works SO MUCH BETTER than baking soda for cleaning silver. If your jewelry is really dirty, powdered Tide works great because it has mild soap along with Borax, in it.. I haven't tried it with Rhodium plating, but it works great with Argentium silver.

  • WTF!! Have you actually done it on gold?

  • hi..does tis work on rhodium silver too?what abt the pieces of silver tat has rhinestones on?will it blur out the rhinestones?

  • love the music even more... great job thanks 4 the video

  • i add salt to it and it speed up the process by 10mins to 1 mins only, ^^ anyway cool vid

  • Nice! it works so fine with coins that are almost complete black.

  • Good choice of music....

  • lmao! made me laugh

  • Please remember that some stones can be damaged irreparably by doing this!

NEVER put items of jewellery with set stones in this kind of 'cleaner' as you can loosen or even have the stones fall out completely!

  • like what stones?

  • @RavensBreath with these wire wrapped pieces the stones aren't going anywhere, they are held in place by wire wrapping alone, no fasteners and no prongs. Assuming they were made well..

  • Very helpful video, thanks so much. It was just what I was looking for and I love the funky tune!

  • Thanks and awesome video. I just started out silversmithing and at times thinking to myself if there is an easier way to remove tarnish of sterling silver jewelry instead of taking it apart. This video was very helpful

  • @leoleo36 I would have told myself the same thing... The easier ways are often the cheapest too!

  • Hello :)

    :) Thanks Vw

  • great video and also a very inexpensive way to clean both silver and gold...I am having an art show soon and some have tarnished...thanks for sharing this with all.....

  • @hatebank01 - It doesn't work on gold for two reasons that work together. First reason is the process does not "clean"; it changes the chemical makeup of the tarnish back to silver. So if gold got dirty, this won't help much. The other reason is that gold will never tarnish, therefore gold would never require a treatment. IDK where you got the idea this works for gold.
