It's a shame Jon doesn't sing quite as good anymore. I imagine a big reason they released that horrible "This Left Feels Right" was they needed new lower versions of the old tunes (like always) cause Jon just can't belt it like he used too. But back in the day he was damn amazing. Especially if you can get your hands on the Live in London DVD. That is just flat out amazing.
You have to read this!! you won't believe it!!! don't stop now!! make a wish - - - - - - - . . . . . Now that you have your wish it will happen! in exclatly 4 days. just copy this and paste it to 4 videos!! only one wish use it wisely and it WILL HAPPEN!!! but if you break the chain your wish will be the opposite
anyway, who thinks that jon was one of the greatest male pop/rock singers - in vocal range and power - of all time? i'd say THEE best out of any hair bands hands down, and even comparable to singers from other genres.
Wow I got to dissagree with the not a good live singer comment. I've seen this band every show since Slippery. Yeah the high notes are gone, but compare him now to any other 80's singer like Bach or Axl. His voice held the test of time IMO not to mention the best F in band around him
i have some old bootleg shows of them during the 80s and have seen him sang some soprano(falsetto for man)notes. He makes them raspy like a scream.Take for example the song, 'i'll be there for you'.there's a part where he screams.Bach or Axl themselves don't do screams in that octave..
I totally agree with u...especially during the late 80s..there r three songs from new jersey CD where jon demonstrates he could hit notes at or near the whistle(flageolet)register of the voice.Homebound Train(whistle,fluty-falsetto scream,E6 on the piano) Living in Sin (falsetto scream D6 on piano) & I'll Be there for you (D6 on piano). These notes he sang are notes sang by a male soprano...
I have the philly 1989 show where Jon does "there for you" with even more than the D6 note, he does several but I don't know which notes they were - btw, how hard is D6?
I seen Bon lots of times on stage, and evry time I saw him sing i thought, why the hell he doesnt get good singing teaching and he becomes a skillful singer? have you ever seen Placido Domingo or Pavarotti? they sing amazingly and they are 60 or 70.
wow i found it really funny that someone compares a rocker and an opera singer...rock and opera are totally different genres and so do the way of singing. opera singers use their diaphrams to sing and rockers don't.
I dont think it's funny at all. Singing is singing. If you are a good guitar player you'll be able to play clasical, blues or jazz. Maybe if you want your style to be very pure, you'll never sound real unless you focus on one style. But I have seen Dio, Paul Rodgers and Graham Bonnet, they all sing rock and they are all older than John and they sing way better than him. I love the music that BJ do but I never thought he was a good live singer.
You ever seen Domingo, Pavarotti or the "other one" (see seinfeld) sing rock n' roll? Jon's gravely voice is perfect for the band's upbeat, yet rocky tone. And to be honest, you put an old, 350lb guy at the front of Bon Jovi, call it Pav Otti, it aint getting 100,000,000 fans.

A greater band will never exist..Disagree if you'd like, but keep in mind you're watching the same thing I am. Point well proven.
