If the banks would have just re-negotiated all the sub-prime loans to begin with, then the defaults would'nt have started to pour in. THe loans were packaged and sold off to other investors, hoping to cash in on the outrageous interest that was supposed be eventually charged on the loans. But the greed kept the borrowers back to the wall, until no money was coming in at all (hardly). Then it all collapsed. Now I'm not getting a house, but still paying off the loans. BULLSHIT!!!

I don't buy it at all that AIG are a victim of other company's short-sighted activities.  They most certainly have enough talent to know absolutely the risks behind every intricate aspect of the policies they make.
