@gianniswildchild This is through a GuitarPort. You need no addons whatsoever for this one. If I did have the MetalShop pack, I'd have used the BigBottom model.
did you buy line6 pod farm or just downloaded the program? i downloaded it, so i havent the USB recording interface (the black thing) . so, guitar goes plugged right directly to the mic plug in ? please help me bro
@ReyCarmesi97 You need a line6 device for this to work, I would think. GuitarPorts are really cheap to buy used and that's what I am using. It does what I want it to perfectly well.
question. do you need the metal shop to do this, or any downloadable package? I really want a good tone but i dont feel like spending fifty bucks for the metal shop.
Is this the exact tone your using in the mix? It doesn't sound like it, but it sound sick as hell. Im definetly gonna have to get this and reaper in the near future.
@Sky9321 Yes, it is the same tone that is shown in the settings! The only difference would be my style of playing in the full mix setting where I play more aggressively.
@Thrashman1990 Alright, are u using the line 6 interface too? And what guitar do you have, this is like the exact sound I've wanted for a LONG time lol.
@Sky9321 Using a GuitarPort from Line6 through PODfarm. The guitar I'm using there is a Fender Telecaster with a BareKnuckle "Piledriver" single coil pickup!
@Sky9321 Oh, you are wrong! When single coils are done right they can be SMOKING! This pickup is more aggressive than any humbucker i've tried out there really.
You need a drum program to create drums in Reaper(Just like any other program) which could be anything from "EZ Drummer" to "Superior Drummer" to "Addictive Drummer". Look them up with google and you'll find lots and lots of tips on where to get them and how to use them!
@Sky9321 To load addictive drummer into your recording DAW(Software) you need to take the addictive drum ".dll"-file and put it in the "effects" folder for that software. For reaper, it is located here: "C:/ > Programs > Reaper > Plugins > FX"
@Thrashman1990 Thank you so much. You've been a lot of help, I've been making drum tracks and just playing for like an hour. Just gotta get the full versions soon :]
alot of people on different websites say it didnt even work when they tried to use it with their computer and that it sucks in general. do you have problems with it?
could you please upload a preset to somewhere? im really considering getting a UX1 that comes with pod farm, but probably not till christmas. if i could get this sound, i'd be more than happy compared to what im getting now
@Thrashman1990 I've been craving for metal and bass pack upgrades but at the sime time i'm fucking content I can dial after 2-3ish years and bass, well i now reamp through a real amp but mostly I love that i could dial in good guitar tones with standard PF EXCEPT for Djent. And this sounds fucking nice so thanks man!
Man this is so frustrating, I've been trying so hard to get such a tone but the sound I get is always so "backgroundish" once recorded. I use a pod X3 and all the patches I came up with sound good when I listen to them, but the sound seems to fade away somehow when I record.
Do you record via USB ? At what bit rate (16, 24?) and in which sample rate ?
Do you quadtrack or dualtrack ?
It just amazes me how the sound is so present in your song !
@TerminateTheHippies The thing to remember when recording is to back off the gain a bit, it add's more bite and presence with PODs, and don't be afraid to add more mids. I always try to use as much mids as I possibly can without turning honky or nasal which also helps alot.
I record directly via USB at 16bit, sample rate is 512 i think? Whatever works best.
Quadtracking mostly, this clip is Dual-tracked though(I think.. don't take my word for it)
should i get a tubescreamer? or a MAXON od 808? im using a LTD ec 1000 deluxe.is a tubescreamer or maxon od 808 pedal needed to create such a beefy tone?
Bad ass man. I might have to rip you off a bit. I've been f*cking with this toneport for a year now and can't get anything close to that even dual tracking pan left, pan right, and center (6 tracks) for each riff into my DAW. Beefy.
could you post this tone on the line 6 Custom tone part? i would really like to download it because i only have pod farm one so i only have somuch to work with.
ive just posted a demo of some low tuned metal riffs, it's all made with virtual instruments in FL studio but sounds pretty realistic, have a listen tell me what you think!
@Thrashman1990 Hey man, I am in the process of choosing the correct gear for "Djent" so can you give me more info about this "Line 6 PodFarm" thingy because hearing the tone that it creates, dammnnn i must have it.

@Hagstrom4ever You need a Line6 audio device that connects to your computer via USB for PODfarm to work.
I think you are unsatisfied with the BigBottom in PODfarm(or in a POD) because there is a big difference in playing with a "real" amp at high volumes like the vetta, and then use the BigBottom with the same settings at lower volumes through a POD(in headphones, for example). This due to a few reasons, but let's jus say that I suggest that you tweak with the settings in PODfarm! Cheers.
Okay...you HAVE to make a video on how to mix that tone. I got a similar tone in Guitar Rig 4, but I'm left with a decent tone, and no idea how to mix it...
The end clip at the end didn't sound like anything except progressive metal. Djent may be a good way to describe a sound your guitar makes but from everything I have been hearing it is a poor term to define a genre. This is LAME

I don't think I could reach out to alot of people that did appreciate and get help via this video if I named it "Progressive metal guitar tone" - do you?
Bear in mind - progressive metal is what we all think of when we say djent.
Trust me, in a full mix it probably sounds much better with the EQ on than if it was off even though it sounds better off when you hear it on it's own.
@Mohamed636 This is not unusual, my friend! I have a different guitar with different pickups. You will have to tweak it to your tastes to some extent!
@Thrashman1990 Yeah i figured, but i dont knwo anything about tone settings. Thank for that anyways! I was thinking it was probably my speakers, which it partially is i think.
@XenoChrist2011 I can say hands down that the sound you hear is the sound i chose. Simply because it fitted the mix better than the sound without the added GEQ.
@SytzeKZ True however I'd argue that the EQ makes a nicer blend when other instruments are added. Makes it more of one big sound as opposed to 2-3 different instruments separately playing different parts. Just my opinion.
Is this the UX1?Do i need the metal shop for this sound?

@SytzeKZ he could have done that tone good with that EQ, but he really didnt. if he had eqed it a tiny bit better it would have sounded amazing

@shreddernuo This is true. Also one of the tricks - less gain gives more clarity and less mush.

@Mohamed636 This is not unusual, my friend! I have a different guitar with different pickups. You will have to tweak it to your tastes to some extent!
Thrashman1990 6 months ago
@Thrashman1990 Yeah i figured, but i dont knwo anything about tone settings. Thank for that anyways! I was thinking it was probably my speakers, which it partially is i think.

@SytzeKZ yep, but the question is which one will sound better in the mix.
XenoChrist2011 6 months ago
@XenoChrist2011 I can say hands down that the sound you hear is the sound i chose. Simply because it fitted the mix better than the sound without the added GEQ.
Thrashman1990 6 months ago
make that into a song please!!!!!!!
ACLeftyGuitar 6 months ago
@SytzeKZ True however I'd argue that the EQ makes a nicer blend when other instruments are added. Makes it more of one big sound as opposed to 2-3 different instruments separately playing different parts. Just my opinion.
