  • Bass solo was sexy :)

  • That move at 3:48 is awesome!

  • I did several rifle twirling competitions,,remember those single equipment comps? A routine I did once began with my tossing my rifle in the air with my arm up and I caught it without looking up - only using my eyes to look up without moving my head to look up. ANYWAY.. one night, my music starts, my routine starts and toss the rifle up. My hand is up and I am waiting, and waiting, and then comes a standing O. I turned and looked up - my rifle was in the basketball net!! No 2 points tho lol

  • WELambert -- first, it's just a sort of a 'culture shock' I guess you'd call it. Of course through life everything changes..and of course the way things were back in the 60s-70s were great for us who were a part of it. Same goes now I'd guess for those now a part of a (IMO) really awesome thing.. know what I mean? I am still stunned by the guitars though! lol

BTW - you meantioned dropped equipment - remember that 1/10th of a point penalty? Lol - Gotta tell you a TRUE funny about that..con't...

  • Goldcrayon -- why are you calling a THREE year old a "horndog"? Nice! Thanks phantommp! It IS a shame. I still enjoy watching some of the videos, but they are just SO far from what they started out to be, what they were meant to be. Guitars - I cannot even imagine! How to ruin a wonderful thing!

  • Jonjon... I agree with you! The Corps are constantly moving, dancing, singing, and this year guitars! George Hopkins of the Cadets has gotten his wish...Drum & BUGLE Corps have become bands! What a shame.

  • สุดยอด

  • I'm a drumline guy, but I have to say, the front ensemble rocks this show hard.

  • WOW you are great!! cool touch that mimic only bad !!!!! is a band so if you can call it from Teziutlan Puebla, MEXICO call DRAGONS MARCHING BAND you took the uniform .... and who lack imagination and are more holes than the telenovela rebel but did not play well you pay attention to those poor fools not only copy songs from bands PUEBLA, MEXICO as AGUILAS DORADAS Marching Band, AGUILUCHOS MARCHING BAND; PEGASOS MARCHING BAND among others ...

  • Meh Gawd

  • I have been watching the Cavalers for over twenty years now, and I can honestly say they have always amazed me with their marching ability, regardless of section (sorry, pit!) That is the one thing I always look forward to from the Cavies, a spectacular drill. Really take a look at their formations, the transitions between them, the actual marching "style", and the fact that they can do some pretty original and ground breaking visuals (2006 "machine" comes to mind).

  • you must admit though their front ensemble is amazing

  • @marimbaplaya17

I'm not saying anything bad about their front ensemble, the are amazing....they just don't march! (they used to, back in the day, when even timpani players marched drill)

  • @oldschooldrumcorps

I was in Cavies' last marching keyboard section. 1982.

  • Beautiful

  • i love the cavaliers.

    my boyfriend marched with them.

    trumpet.

    i love you stephen! <3

  • I was there! great show!

  • Wow...wow...and wow....i got the goose bumps...wow

  • Apparently the snare break was a bit shorter at the end during early season cuz later videos have another measure or so extra.. I think

  • yeah, they changed it up halfway through the year.

it throws me off when i practice the break to the earlier vids haha.

  • ah yes the "marching pit". My father was in Phantom '82. He's shown me many videos of the days back then.

  • I'm from the "old school" when Drum Corps were Drum Corps. A "pit" was never heard of, no one danced around because we marched. Uniforms were not "sexy" and as a Color Guard we were taken seriously. What a difference 35-40 years makes. IMO the changes are not for the better. Any other "old timers" out there? We were the NH All American champs for 7 yrs. running. We marched we didn't dance. We'd have been thrown off the field! BEST days of my life. Thank you and RIP Al C.

  • im an old timer also and i agree 100% with you i just dont know how a judge can judge all the running and dancing..and now they are letting electrical music in it i saw spirit this year and they had an electric guitar im sorry but thats not a drum and bugle i was kinda disappointed to see that.. i marched in the mid 70s

  • @lovemetonight62 I agree with both lovemetonight and Icallhacks. What the corps do today is amazing, like cadets marching at 210 bpm, but I think DCI should remain unplugged. You shouldn't be able to have a director of the corps stand at a soundboard. That ruins so much of what drum corps music is.

  • @bluestarhopeful

    no electricity please!

  • i agree with you, but i think the color guards in dci, well at least the cavies are taken seriously, cuz they are good, but yes the older drum corps stuff did not have any dancing around or anything like that

  • There is a substantial difference between then and now, but the changes are for the better, they do everything you did, and more. I can't judge color guard though, I play the trumpet.

  • @jonjonsgrammie, I'm from the "old school" too...I agree, some changes aren't so good (electronic instruments!) and the demise of small regional competition circuits for DCI. But you got to give Cavies' Gaurd credit - check out the rifle toss feature in this video at :54

  • @jonjonsgrammie

Could you explain why someone standing stiffly and twirling is somehow better than the form of movement that's been around even longer and is more expressive?

In other words, your resistance to dance is inexplicable and backward. It has always belonged with music, and of course it's a natural match with drum corps. What a silly attitude.

(Your resistance to sexiness, I will leave to you, your spouse, and your therapist.)

  • @ikshields ..Aww c'mon! How old are you? Obviously not old enough to where you would know anything about the way it was back in the late 60s through to the mid 70s at least. What I said has nothing to do with a "silly attitude", it's the way it was back then, and also the way that I and MANY others percieved what a Drum & Bugle Corps. & Drill Teams were and in some's opinions should have stayed that way. It has nothing to do with 'Sexiness' and ALL to with precision marching. Music

  • @ikshields (cont) may go with dancing, but not in a marching competition in some people's opinion. Since this is the USA, we are entitled to our own opinions. BTW as far as my "resistance" to sexiness" - you know nothing about me other than I disagree about dancing on the comp. field. It's an 'old school' thing. No need to be such a putz about it. As far as my 'sexiness', I have 8 children and I didn't have them flown in by the stork :)

  • @jonjonsgrammie They're body moves that enhance the visual of the marching technique. Don't say the "changes are for the worse" because you do not understand the changes. It takes a lot more to remember all the body moves than to just march perfectly upon the field. As I was saying about enhancing the visual...you see 3:41 when body moves were added to the line? Imagine if they marched in a straight line in a perfect posture. Much more boring looking, isn't it?

  • @MrFriendliest i totally agree, our show this year is JAM PACKED with visuals and it's harder to remember them than it is the actuall music or show.

  • @jonjonsgrammie LOL. jonjon is a horndog!

  • @jonjonsgrammie You don't need to be such a downer. There wasn't internet back then either...I think the changes are for the better! They are soooo much fun to see live! Don't get me wrong, "old school" was great! Our generation is 'go go go', so it just makes sence that this sport has changed to be different.

  • @jonjonsgrammie I disagree exactly at what point would have drum corps not evolved? If I follow your logic drum corps would stood be playing with rotor and valves. The argument you voiced was also being echo by those who marched in the 50's and 60's to those of us in the 70's. Having a drumline march up and down the 50 yard line with 5 timpanis did not make sense then and does not make sense now. Dropping your equipment and having to wait until the judge return it to you did not make sense.

  • Cavaliers are amazing. i want to join them one day

  • They definitely get it done every year. I actually like this year's program better than from the past several years. Tight race for the championship, so best of luck to them.

  • I saw them yesterday!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • Ah, they are so great (:

They came to my high school today to practice for their competion. They are beast (:

    And their guard is great.

  • would you guyz quit arguing about the "pit'..WE ALL KNOW it's the Cavaliers "bottom" (baritone) section that rulesz..lol

  • my marching band is going to dci at giants stadium in august =D

  • Omg they were so amazing, i hope one day i can march with them, that was an amazing show, and to think i'm going to get trained by bruno this year! I'm so excited.

  • Are surprising and terrific, number them one in states joined, the respect and admire, are too much.

  • I see you are not from the United States. The right way to say that would be "They are surprising and terrific, they are number one in the United States, I have too much respect and admiration."

  • Comment removed

  • their pit is beastly. :)

  • hell yeah but the drumline is better

  • well i consider the pit to be in the DL but yeah, their line is amazing too. everything about their corp is beautiful. hahaha :D

  • Dude, yeah they are. Most under appreciated section in band or drum corps in my oppinions. They are awesome

  • u r so right, mircat93 got it the other way around...the dl is a part of the FRONT ENSEMBLE, not pit(the fe has way more musical talent than dl)

  • does any1 have the full show?

  • Ah this makes me miss my marching band days back in high school. We won state four out of five years. We were sick for a high school band!

  • haha u were in High School for 5 yrs, WTF!?!

  • hahahahah no dude i wasn't i was only there to win three of the championships. my senior year we didn't win. then they won again after i left. lol

  • he was in high school 5 yrs probably because they didn't want to part with him.hell I did the same thing, the only difference is they graduated me to get rid of me.

  • Don't leave condescending comments about a corps that you have never marched in. That's unprofessional to say the least.

  • ↑This character is read as the Samurai.

  • はい、そのとおりです。非常に良い!^ _ ^

  • how can you end the vid there?

  • ugh ! I hate it when they zoom into the pit- they may be awesome but they don't make formations and all

  • If you've ever watched the pit perform, then you'd realize that they're doing too much to make formations, but they are amazing and do a great job. Go pit!

  • I don't think you realize.. The pit is doing 4 mallet action... And some INSANE 4 mallet action at that. Like, if you were able to make formations while doing that, you would have to be a god. Yes, the formations are awesome, but no one ever gives the pit any credit... GO PIT! WOO! hahaha.

  • oh alright... pit is fabulous... let me guess you play(ed) in pit?

  • Hahaha. Pit is quite fabulous. And, i sure do play in pit... But i'm thinking of switching to line next year.. There's only so many years of pit i can handle...

  • Boo. You're just jealous. Hahaha. Jk. I realize that they're just playing with 2 then. But not the whole time.

  • That's kind of my point...Holding four and only using two is only impressive if it's done well. And here, the unused mallets are flopping all around, which means they're using incorrect single independent stroke technique. I'm surprised that flies with the percussion staff (or judges). And I don't see anything that uses all four in anything but double verticals...but I haven't watched closely.

(anyway, I still like the sound...I just wish they spent a little more time with Stevens' book...)

  • Cavaliers play a different four mallet technique than most other corps. most corps rotate left to right and vis versa with the wrist and put pressure down with the thumb to create a stroke that doesnt make the other mallet move. The Cavaliers, in order to get power in the stroke, move the wrist vertically with a slight inward turn so there is a consistent powerful stroke, but enough difference between to the two mallets to make only the inside one hit. It's not 'poorly executed' its different.

  • Thanks for the explanation centersnareDM. If what they're doing is intentional, then it's a difference in philosophy rather than execution. Neither of my degrees in percussion performance utilized that approach, so when I look at it, it looks "wrong." But if they're doing what they're taught, then I shouldn't criticize them for that. I re-tract my statement about "poorly executed."

  • i loved this show!!! you guys were amazing!

  • im in the colorguard!!!!!! yeah naperville home show!!!!

  • ah dude u cut it off right at the end of the best drum break of the season

  • i love the pit uniforms, cuz they are different from the rest of the bands uniforms

  • its not a band. its a core.

  • ummm ok it yur gonna correct me, correct me....correctly i guess.....its a corp.....but thx anyways...in high school its called a band haha

  • haha. well in high school they have woodwinds and some other brass instruments like trombones.

  • OMG i know i hate it soooo much..woodwinds dont project worth shit haha and trombones.....well.. nobody likes those haha

  • hahaha! i agree

  • Actually its a corps..forgot the s..lol

  • hey......shut up

  • Haha..righttt

  • my friend in the pit hated those uniforms. since he's fat, and its like...skin tight

  • oh really? eww....thats kinda...ehh haha

  • lol it was quite funny to watch him put it on.

but the pit and guard Uniforms were badasss

  • haha i agree

  • damn u didnt get to see the cool ass visual at 4:05 when they were all in the straight line, check out my video of samurai highlights, by the way very good video

  • how could you skip the trumpet solo at the beggining?

  • hell yeah bass break at 5:02

  • If I could be in any Drum Core, It would so be the cavaliers. In my opinion, I think they are better than BD

  • BD is dieing in my opinion. They cant keep up as much anymore

  • they're dying because they switched to promark.

  • i love the cavaliers they're one of my favorite drum corps. id love to have one of those sexy uniforms too xD

  • I love their style and odd technique. I'm personally a BD fanboy, but if there was any corps that could top them, it is definitely the cavies :D

  • i love the Cavaliers their amazing

  • i dont like the drum majors conducting =(

  • as someone else stated. you need to keep the shot zoomed out.

  • My marching band tech is in this Drum Corp. He's a baritone

  • hahahaha...OMFG I LOVE THE CAVALIERS AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY!!!!! AHHHHH

    haha

  • OMG i <3 this Show It kicked ASS!!!

  • need to keep the camera WIDE view

  • this isnt the best video of them but i can assure you they kicked ass when i went to the movie theatre thing and saw the semifinals on the big screen

  • I'm pretty sure you saw the quarterfinals in theatres

  • "Samurai"

  • You're right...the word you're looking for is AWSOME.

  • As awesome as 3rd place gets..:)

  • I think someone's ears need cleaning out.

  • my guard instructer works with the guys im am so lucky!!!! wow

  • you're crazy. cavies are one of the best.

  • What are you talking about. They just received a score of 97.325 at the 2008 DCI World Championship, world class.

  • What do you call drum corps?

  • how can anyone say that, I mean come on.... hes retarded... let him be... He is only making himself look like a dumass.

  • i saw them about a week ago in Broken Arrow they were so awesome!! i was in the second row so i could see them good!

  • i went to dci last night, and they beasted ! 2nd place to the blue devils =( but cavies and phantom regiment were just freaking tight!!

  • waaaah, i just just getting into it when it stopped

great show, either cavvies, crown or *gasp* PHANTOM (like every other year, but im not bitter) should take #1. . blue dev. shouldnt get it, i saw them live, and of the corps i just named (and the cadets), the blue devils, and cadets were not the best, imo it should be Cavvies, Phantom, Crown, Devils, Cadets (if the cadets even make the top 5)

All i have to say as a Crown fan is that this was one of my favorite shows of this season.

  • 2000 cavies snares still the cleanest line ever!

  • My Marching Band Tech is first chair in this band.

  • lol, there's no first chair and it's not a band, silly. =)

  • No one will ever beat cavies amazing drill, no one

  • because half the time they sprint in their drill pretty much haha no one comes close to their drill

  • Lovin' the front ensemble uni's

  • I love cavies ....

  • i had the chance to see them live in san antonio. this show was my favorite. :)

    it was AMAZING!

and 3:30-4:35 on the vid.. WOWWEEE! by FAR my fave part :D! but they all were wonderful that night.. it was great. :)

  • THEY ARE VERY GOOD.. but the dancing 08 style is a bit much.. however... THEY ARE GOOD..

  • i loved this show

    thanks for the awesome upload

  • CAVALIERS ITS BACK!!!!

  • excellen show! I can't wait to see how they stack up to BD.
