The sarcastic comment is fine. I am sure he condemns the aggression. What's bad is that kind of "light" humour. It's a matter of tact and respect for the people who lost somebody a few days ago and aren't laughing at all. I agree that's a matter of form and not of content. I see we all love Brian, so I don't want to quarrel with my soulmates. But I think we should admit he's only human and this time he was wrong...
@malade71 I've never doubted that he is only a human, but he is a very sweet human being, though he behaves tactless from time to time like in this interview =)
I truly believe that Brian doesn't mean to hurt anyone or laugh at the tragedy!! Who would do that? What do you expect him to do? To walk away every time some stupid interviewer asks a stupid question? A little humour to get over it and move on to the next! That's all!
@MegaYoungatheart I totally agree with you. And I should mention that his statement was very sarcastic. Firstly I didn't get it but now I can understand what he was trying to say.
@TheOnlyCthulhu I am so glad that we share the same opinion. I am a great fan of Brian but my comments here are, I believe, from an objective point of view. I also agree that he was just making a sarcastic reply. That was the way he dealt with stupid questions in interviews.
When I first watched this video I was a little bit upset about him laughing, but now I feel really bad for him after reading all these stupid comments.
@malade71 Do you really think that he was laughing ABOUt a tragedy? He was already laughing at the previous quastion, he was smiling the whole interview. I agree, it was tactless but it is unfair to diss him because of that. Everybody does mistakes. And if you understand that you should forgive him that.
Stop dissing him for what he said or because he laughed. He's not a politician and he is not used to answer such questions. You can see that he was a bit surprised as the interviewer asked him about it and he hadn't time to think about it properly. I study political science and I often have to deal with really inhuman statements which come from politicians or political scientists. And Brian is just a musician and he has nothing to do with this issue.
@malade71 You're right, but my comment simply relate to, I did not even want to offend anyone, sorry, I really do not know why he would so, an apology for him
@Molkitalanders I know sweetie, you didn't offend anyone indeed. And he's really the most beautiful thing in the world. My comment was not against you, I was only expressing my disappointment about the interview. But I think I can forgive him now, he simply committed a gaffe. Good night dear soulmate.
Placebo's music is life to me now and I must confess I am really in love with Brian. I guess he's human, he was feeling awkward. I don't believe he really doesn't care about what's going on in the region. But when you are as famous as he is you must be careful. You're not in a pub drinking with your friends, you are answering a public interview. I feel hurt by his attitude. I really hope, as I do appreciate him for his art and his personality, that he will apologize for this interview.
I have listened to this interview over and over, asked a British colleague to help me with the nuances of the english. I really tried to understand his humour, but the truth is that I am really disappointed. This interview sounds stupid and superficial to me. How could he hint at the killing in such a light tone? How could he laugh? I think they should actually perform in Israel for their fans who are not to blame for what their government do.
i would have laugh as well...
sorry, but i realy cant sympathize with terrorists who were aware the consequence, they choose the provocation path.
i think the IDF did exactly what every other sane government in the world would have done to defend their civilians.
And now, no more political comments...
PLACEBO ROCKS!!!

I am very much shocked not to read any comment of support in Israel. just shows what little information you hold.
the ship was full of fire arms; being transported to terorists.
its quite easy to choose ignorence rather then reserch.

@TheOnlyCthulhu Why stupid? Do you think that a musician can laugh about a tragedy (and so recent)? He's been really tactless.
Appreciating somebody doesn't me we should clap our hands every time he opens his mouth.
I agree with your explanation anyway. He's a clever and sensitive person but this time he committed a gaffe.

@Molkitalanders To me he looks very ugly this time. Maybe because he is laughing about a tragedy.
