  • I love this movie. Saw it when I was young and have had a copy of it way back when on VHS.

  • Damn ! 6:06 Now the mafia has a better way to get hits than to plant bombs in the bottom of vehicles ^.^

  • One of the cool things about the 80's was some great made-for-tv movies. Thanks for uploading it!

  • I miss good ol' fashioned made for tv horror. "Stranger in Our House". "Lets Scare Jessica to Death". "Burnt Offerings". "Don't Be a Afraid of Dark".

What was that movie with the boy hiding out in a house after he accidentally killed a girl?

  • @SJYNYC "Bad Ronald" starring Scott Jacoby. Also, he was on the awesome movie "The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane" with Jodi Foster and Martin Sheen. Note: "Bad Ronald" and "Don't be Afraid of the Dark" are on warner archive dvd at the WBshop.

  • Where is the rest of this movie. There is a whole part with Katharine Ross missing. And the part where Robin learns about her powers and practices is missing.

  • @MrDoug41 There's a Katherine Ross movie called "The Legacy," which starred Sam Elliot and Roger Daltrey, released in 1978. She's not in Midnight Offerings. There's a clip on youtube.

  • Wow some of you have no clue what your talking about. That is correct that she is summoning certain demons that you don't want to mess with. The spell sending of the eights is also correct. As far as Wiccan goes...its not all that old of a practice...A true witch will laugh at you all for not understanding what your talking about LMAO!!!! Hecate by the way is the ruler over witches. Wiccan has nothing to do with any of what she said in the movie nothing period. Thank you all for the laugh.

  • Although I hate to spoil things, as someone whose seen this scene OVER AND OVER:

The thurible has an UPRIGHT pentagram, then an INVERTED one, Satanic witches only use Inverted, her ring is Upright, she uses Voodoo, AND black magic, one of the pronounciations is wrong, and you can see her press the button on the thurible prop to make it ignite. Subtle, but there.

Sorry, but might as well spread the misery.

    From a REAL witch...

  • @LadyOwl401 You didn't spoil anything, you just look like a moron. I bet you're fat, pimply, ugly, and have never been on a date in your life. Please don't put a spell on me for calling you out.

  • @chasenip2

You are a sad lonely individual to write such a moronic, childish comment like that. I really pity you. And to think, you only have ONE friend. Yeah, I checked your page, and left the same comment. Didn't know it was here too.

Well, sorry you're such an angry, sad, pathetic thing. I'm not, but that can't help you, now can it.

    Sorry Charlie.

  • I remember sitting on the floor with my older sister and watching this with a bowl of pan made popcorn(old school) I was 10 at the time. Man I miss the 80's.

  • Awesome - thank you for sharing!

  • @TheWitchWay lol!

  • Awesome movie, thanks for posting it!!! :)

  • See, right away I'm confused. She's sitting in front of a Baphomet Pentagram and she's summoning Hecate and everybody except Baphomet?

Who writes this crap, don't they do research first?

  • @captainhowdy01

"Who writes this crap anyway?" Funny, I thought the same, reading your post. The "Baphomet" Pentagram is the Leveyan Satanic Goat of Mendes, NOT Baphomet. If YOU do your research, you will go to the CoS site.

As for the spell? The book is "Mastering Witchcraft", by Paul Huson, the conjuration is a snippet from "The Sending of Eight" curse. She is summoning demons, raising power, and directing it at Mr. "KaBOOM!"...

Notice the thurible, censer, hand of glory?

  • Loved this movie. Melissa Sue Anderson was great. I read that she dropped the Sue..

  • I remember seeing this movie as a kid at a sleep over at my friends house. Scared me to pieces. Thank you so much for posting it!!! I have been looking for it for years, I had forgotten the title of this movie and never thought I would find it.

  • I remember seeing this movie as a kid at a sleep over at my friends house. Scared me to pieces. Thank you so much for posting it!!! I have been looking for it for years, I had forgotten the title of this movie and never thought I would find it.

  • iis the movie on dvd yet

  • is it on dvd

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • there is a film i would love to see from the same era. Not the Babysitter, but a movie about a couple hiring a nanny who looks frumpy and after she gets the job shows how sexy she can look ect.

  • @celtickimba

You're thinking of "Summer of Fear", aka "Stranger in Our House". Lee Purcell, and Linda Blair. Lee is a witch who takes on the identity of the family cousin, and moves in on the unsuspecting family. Wearing her clothes at first, that don't fit, she soon 'unravels' herself, and her true identity is revealed. COOL movie. Along with this one, one of my favorites. Look up "Summer of Fear".

  • @LadyOwl401 Directed by Wes Craven! I got the DVD years ago.

  • @celtickimba

Further, you're remembering the epilogue, when she impersonates an English nanny, who upon getting the 'new' job, looks down at the little girl, and says, "Hello, *xxx*...You and I are going to become...great friends", then freezes, and that's the end of the movie.

  • Blow the bastard up teehee. I Love being a Witch

  • I Love Her Altar I wish mine looked like that.

  • @drock272

It isn't hard at all. I have one just like it. Yes, it was inspired by the movie, and surprisingly easy to create. Got the same skull from an online occult supply, already have much of the same tools, the little boxes, and such, the two 'guardians' on either side, the large black candle, I took a tiki torch, and took out the 'inards', replaced it with a black pillar candle, painted the wood black, tada! The thurible was my favorite. Found one in the exact shape...*pt. 1*

  • @drock272

...and had the rest custom made. Simply had pentagrams emboseed on it, like the prop. It's made out of blackened resin, like pewter. The skull is surprising real looking, I was impressed. Found a large Pentagram, hung it on the wall, placed the torch in front, hanging censer *mine* is brass, with a pentagram crown, Book of Shadows I keep in place with a plate display holder, they come in sizes, and colors, easy...don't need an anvil to keep it open, the Hand of Glory was a bit much..

  • @LadyOwl401 A pentagram or pentacle is only a symbol of protection, it's nothing Satanic in origin. Take my advice, don't ever blabber like this in front of a genuine Wiccan, you'd look like a total fool.

  • @drock272

..seeing as a REAL one should be used, in the old Grimoires, and you just can't get one in modern day, further, a bit too gruesome for my taste. A wax one is a dime a dozen. Not needed for me. Altar cloth, easy. You can make it yourself. Find a credenza, or large dresser/chest, place it in a closet, gut the closet, take off doors, poles, etc. Depending, should face N, or E. But for black magic, W is good. So, that's done, now just go to the pound, p/u a black cat! LOL...

    Peace...

  • Its hard to picture Melissa Sue Anderson playing an evil role!!

  • @Lisa1995xxx Check her out in Happy Birthday To Me. Weird ass movie but a good one.

  • @HailDarkened Thanks! :) I'll check it out.

  • OOOOHHHH!! Thanks SO much 4 posting this!!!! I LOVED this movie as a kid growing up in the 80's. Also loved Summer Of Fear/Stranger In Our House, w/Linda Blair. Brings back great memories....

  • EbaY SALES IT !

  • It's hard to picture Melissa Sue Anderson playing a dark role!!!

  • This was my FAVORITE back in the day. Thank you so much for posting!!!!!!!!!

  • This is 1 of my favorite occult thrillers of all time!

  • Man this is such a flash back. Thanks for posting.

  • That's a cute kitty.

  • Does anyone know what she's saying?

  • @idontknow810

If you're referring to the curse on the teacher, it's "The Sending Of eight", a curse from "Mastering Witchcraft".

She's summoning the names of demons, including Nocticula Hecate (the Goddess of witches, Nocticula meaning "Of the Night"), and Cernunnos, although the writers screwed up the pronunciation.

OTW, Barabbas, Satanas, Bel, Narkuth, Azeal, and some other nasty demons you REALLY don't want to fuck with, unless you really know what you're doing, is what she's summoning.

  • @LadyOwl401 Number one fool, "demons" were known as gods and goddesses before biblical times. They were never regarded as "evil" by the ancients. I used to be Wiccan and I definitely know the true origins of these names.

  • Goddess of Witches? LMAO!! Um no, that is made up because all witch means is "user of magic" and a witch can be either male or female. In pre-biblical times, just about everyone was a "witch" because these practices were part of their religion.

  • Here's a little quiz for you devil girl, name the eight sabbats..

  • I have a bootleg VHS of this and the quality is awful, I wish they would remaster it and release it on dvd. They don't make television movies like this anymore..sad.

  • I remember this movie. I enjoyed watching it years ago. Melissa Sue Anderson was great as an evil witch. The more I think about it, I probably saw it in television not on video.

  • I saw this movie many years ago on VHS. I probably rented it on from the video store. Melissa Sue Anderson was great in this.

That cracks me the hell up. :-)

  • I saw this on it's original broadcast. I was 13 years old - the scene w/the pool was fab. Who'da thought that 29 years later, I'd be sitting here commenting on this excellent camp-fest of a film.

  • @leonardbrooks Yes I totally Agree. I rank this film Right up there with Carrie 1976. I love horror movies. Espcially Werewolf Movie. Did you know there is a TV Series titled Werewolf 1987-1988. I have the complete Series of that.

  • Theres something like this in an episode of supernatural season 3,where the woman also called upon Astaroth. she ended getting killed ,as they found the charm bag,but she did kill the guy's girlfriend by having her teeth comeout.

    V...

  • One of my favorite made-for-TV (or Silver Screen) horror flicks of the 70's (along with The Dark Secret of Harvest Home, Burnt Offerings, and Dark Night of the Scarecrow). And to think hypno1030 has posted the whole thing! TY!

  • I saw this on the BIG premiere on Friday Night waaaay back! The big showdown at the end was hysterical. Great campy fun.Melissa Sue Anderson ,was always playing a right bitch! Got tired of playing the goody two shoes on Little House I guess.
