Hey :) I'm still working on my cab, but I'm stuck on how to use the ps1 power source to run the screen and dingoo. I know I need the transformers but don't understand hour to wire them up... Could u please advise?
Love your cab, INSPIRING ! Fixed my B\W output issue screen issue (got another screen) Here is what I got so far.... Joystick and buttons Joytech 5.6 Screen Speakers Dingoo (stripped) Are there any guides about for the following: Extending the USB: making Dingoo run from a plug not batteries (I am new to electronics) Solder Points for the wiring Any other tips Where to get the power converters mentioned. Could you please post links to where you got all the parts?
@coinopscab I replied to your questions at the dingoonity boards. I've ordered most of my parts at arcadeshop.de and conrad.de. They both offer internation shipping, in case you haven't such a shop around.
@ACE99405 Unfortunately tvout right from the start is only possible with Dingux (I think I've posted my script somewhere at Dingoonity). In Dingux you have also some more parameters (ntsc, pal, cpu-clock), so you might be able to get color output. Or your screen expect a s-video signal. Anyway I'm looking forward to your cab :)
I am also making one of these machines based on what you done... Very inspiring indeed !!!
I am using a 3rd party PS1 screen by WildThings... It has a TV Input saving me needing to hack the screen. Problem is the Dingoo outputs in black and white, its set to PAL 4:3, and I tried NTSC. When I connect other devices to the PS1 screen they output in colour :(
@ACE99405 I'm glad you like the cab :-) Do you already boot in Dingux or are you on the native firmware? For example overclocking and tv-out can be tricky in Dingux (too high rate results in b/w output as well)
@DirkMitHut I would love to do one of these myself, but I have a mild tremor in my left hand that prevents me from doing things like this efficiently.
@deadline27 Oh, I'm sorry to hear this. I'd really like you to help you out, but my apartment doesn't have a basement. Once I get one I could actually build another one, but right now it's not possible, sorry.
Well, it could run on external batteries, since it just needs 12V. But the LCD and the marquee backlight consume a lot of power, so internal batteries would drain quite fast.
@ruffnutts1 Thanks :-) Unfortunately I haven't made a diagram. But the wiring is pretty straight forward for the Dingoo: there's just one ground (-) for all the buttons. So most of the "hacking an USB-Controller tutorials" will apply for the dingoo as well. Good Luck :-)
@DirkMitHut Wait, upper screen and lower screen? I Only saw 1 screen, the one infront of the controlls.
Oh, ok, now I see it. That looks kind of weard, but I guess there's not much point in hiding the Dingoo screen inside the box.. I thought you might have just phisically replaced it.
fkn sweet! makes me want to go build one though my DIY & soldering skills are questionable. is there a build documentation that you're making ? :) would love to have a look and learn.
@skeevs Yep, I've just finished the guide yesterday. Also make sure to check out Pocket Lucho's channel. About the soldering, make sure you practice a bit on an old PCB.
My Dingoo is sadly neglected - ever since the L button came off the motherboard - and my version of Dingux is far too old. I think you've just convinced me to repair and upgrade it this weekend.
@pocketlucho: Thanks for stopping by! I'm still thinking about the next cab, your mini pinball looks very tempting :) Maybe until then I also find out what bluelf might be ;)

@ACE99405 I've posted a "diagram" to the build thread. Sorry that it took so long!

I use native to be honest although I do have dingux also but dont really use it, it also outputs in black and white :(
I use mame4all native but mainly play CPS1 streetfigher series CPS2 Xmen Vs Sf and NEOGEO Neo Turf Masters
I want to base my mini cab on the xmen vs sf cab
Is it possible to make the native output to tvout from powering on?
Thanks for replying and sharing your cab build info

How much can I commission you to build one of these for me?

@deadline27 Trust me, it's more fun if you do it yourself ;-)

lol screen turned up already - time to get busy building my cabinet,
Will post on dingonnity my progress :-)

@ Dirk not sure weather to use a dingoo yet might use my ebox 4300,
I`ve just bought a 5.6" lcd screen with remote :-) 30 pounds once it turns up I will base the size of the cabinet round it :-)
ruffnutts1 8 months ago
@Dirk Please could you make a quick diagram or point me in the right direction thanks
ruffnutts1 9 months ago
@ruffnutts1 Just think of the Dingoo as some kind of gamepad ;-) There are lots of tutorials how to hack an USB-Pad.
In the thread I've linked you can also find some images how it looks when done to a Dingoo.

Is there a diagram on soldering the arcade buttons to the main board,
I have a spare Dingoo A330 that I want to tinker with cheers!!
BTW this is awsome ;-)

Wow, that's really impressive, is that the Dingoo screen or did you get another one?
Disthron 1 year ago
@Disthron Yep, the lower screen is still the original screen. The upper one of course is the PS One LCD.

Hehehe, bluelf is a cheap jamma board with cps1-2-3, neogeo, etc emulators very very small. A mini pinball is really expensive to do ;)

Nice job! The dingo is cheap alternative but I prefer other things like bluelf or mini itx as you know ;)
Now, for the second minicab!
