@buddmar Thanks so much. Just yesterday I started my official prep for High Holy Days that come the end of Sept this year. I have to take this piece down one whole steop - the ravages of age!
Awesome! Thank you for telling me. I've been there many time, with friends, for Shabbat services. One of the most beautiful synagogues I've ever had the priviledge to spend time in.
Muchisimas gracias. Y tambien, lo siento mucho sobre la muerte de Mercedes Sosa - una de las mejores cantantes en el mundo - sorry about my bad Spanish - I gave it my best good try.
Your Spanish is great! :) Thank you for your sentiments, Mercedes Sosa was beloved in her own right, as a woman that brought music to the hearts tf millions, regardless of who they were. I agree: fue una de las mejores cantantes en el mundo.
OK, this is kind of funny... My daughter used my computer the other day and now all of my posts are showing up with her user name! Not sure that she really appreciates the beauty of this prayer, but I do. Note to self - log off when done!
This evening, still riding on a high from services, I went searching for presentations on youtube of the Janowski version of Avinu Malkeinu. Thank you! You really made my night!
In my humble opinion, this is one of the greatest liturgical pieces for Jewish Liturgy. I am so glad you enjoyed this version. Shana Tova to you as well :))
Such memories I have of my father and I at synogogue. This version of Avinu Malchenu is as much a part of my history and soul as anything could be. Thank you for posting this.
somehow the fact that it seems to have been sung during an actual service actually adds to the presentation in a way the more polished studio performances can not achieve. I've been listening to various performances for an hour and this is one of the best.
Thank you. It is hard to put into words what it is like to stand on the bimah and know that this central prayer is resting on your shoulders. The responsibility is awesome. But as I sing, I sort of leave reality and enter the musical and spiritual world, the weight becomes lighter, and I can enjoy being part of the prayer.
I've listened to this a dozen or more times, i still get shivers. it means a lot to me that in a time when humanity is not in its best light that something this special and beautiful can bring a tear to my eye. thank you
The voice is superb ... it sends chills up my spine. Let me say the synagogue is really sumptuous and opulent - it must be really magnificent. When was it built?
Just magnificent, Rowna ... glorious! A masterpiece of Jewish liturgical music.

It's beautiful. We used to sing the Max Janowski version at our temple every year.I'm so happy to have found it now.
